WHO: Barbados modern roots reggae star, David Kirton will perform at Los Angeles’ popular music venue, The Mint (www.themintla.com), on August 19 with songs off his latest album Time for Change.  Kirton gave two crowd pack live performances at The Parish and Flamingo Cantina during the 2009 South By South West (www.sxsw.com) in Austin, TX. The Sunday Mercury UK wrote “The new album from Barbadian balladeer Kirton has the crossover appeal to break him big in the mainstream pop charts”. Caribbean Today wrote, “Kirton has struck the right cord. He brings to the market place a refreshingly unique aura. His appeal is broad, easily satisfying the mainstream audience, especially those who crave something new.”

Kirton first came into the public’s eye with his Midem Cannes 1999 performance that also featured Toots and Maytals, Sally Noylo and The Cranberries. AP writer John Swensen said “unquestionably the most impressive new act at Midem.” For the second consecutive year, Kirton was named  Reggae Artist of The Year 2009 by the Barbados Music Awards. Kirton was awarded that title in 2008 along with Reggae Song and Best Video of The Year for his single “Green Camouflage” also by the Barbados Music Awards.

The L.A. landmark, The Mint has reputation for having main stream artists getting their first break there. It’s no surprise that multi – talented Kirton will take the stage there in hopes for the same outcome. The Mint opened its doors in 1937 and was known for housing some of the greatest blues musician.  Taj Mahal and his Phantom Blue Band recorded their Grammy winning album “Shoutin in Key” while performing at The Mint.  Artist, Jimmy Witherspoon also gained a Grammy nomination for his recorded album with Robin Ford at the venue titled “Live at the Mint”.  In the 90s the blues hot spot began exploring other music genres and took the direction of hosting all musical types of talent, among them Ben Harper, Macy Gray and Jeff Buckley.

  1. In general, it will usually cost over $50000 for a heavy-duty, used tow truck.
Though many credit counseling organizations are nonprofit,
their services may not be free, cheap, or even legitimate, so
do your research. It is a phony citation that you
can use to play a joke on someone.
