APPARITION LAUNCHES THE “BE MY BRIGHT STAR LOVE LETTER CONTEST” PRESENTED BY A DIAMOND IS FOREVER AND MONTBLANC

Jane Campion’s BRIGHT STAR hits Theaters September 18

NEW YORK–September 16, 2009— In celebration of the release of Jane Campion’s Bright Star and as an homage to the love affair passionately captured in heartfelt correspondence between a then unknown poet John Keats and his stylish “minx,” Fanny Brawne, Apparition has launched a national online user-generated contest for the most romantic love letter or “Little Tweet Nothing” presented by A Diamond is Forever (ADIF) and Montblanc.

The love letters between British Poet John Keats and his muse, Fanny Brawne are legend, and have been fodder for romantics for almost two centuries. Written and directed by Academy Award winner Jane Campion, Bright Star centers on this grand romance and stars Ben Whishaw (The International, I’m Not There) as Keats and Abbie Cornish (Stop Loss, Elizabeth: The Golden Age) as Brawne. The film, which premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival to astounding audience response, will open September 18.

Recognizing that the means of communication have expanded since the early 19th century, participants may enter one of two ways: submit a “Traditional Handwritten Letter” limited to 150 words OR submit a “Little Tweet Nothing,” limited to 140 characters that may ultimately be posted to the film’s official Twitter thread, “Keats Tweets.” Directions for submission (and official rules) are housed on the contest page of the film site at www.brightstar-movie.com.  Entries will be accepted through October 31, 2009.

The Top 10 handwritten entries and Top 10 “Little Tweet Nothings” will be posted on the official film site for consumer voting from November 21 to November 30. Following this consumer voting phase, the finalists will be ranked and evaluated  by a panel of notable judges – to be announced shortly – who will select 1 Grand Prize Winner in EACH category, Traditional Handwritten Letter and  “Little Tweet Nothing.”

The Grand Prize Winner for the Traditional Handwritten Letter will receive an Everlon Diamond Pave Ring from ADIF and The Grand Prize Winner for the most romantic “Little Tweet Nothing” will receive an Everlon diamond pendant necklace from ADIF.  5 Runner-Up Winners will each receive a Meisterstuck Classique Fountain Pen from Montblanc.  The Winners will be announced on December 9.
