October 21, 2009 – The acclaimed film “THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES” – A FILM BY JUAN JOSE CAMPANELLA is set to make its U.S. premiere this coming November at the AFI FEST 2009 in Los Angeles on November 4, 2009 at 4PM at the Mann Chinese Cinemas.
The film recently became the number one box office hit of the year by surpassing over 2 million admissions since its release in September beating out even many of the blockbuster films.
In addition, “THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES” was chosen by the Argentina Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Academia de Cine de la Argentina) to represent Argentina in the Best Foreign Language Motion Picture category for the upcoming Oscar® race.  This murder mystery thriller starring Ricardo Darrin received critical acclaim and audience ovations at last month’s Toronto International Film Festival and the San Sebastian Film Festival.  While in Argentina, viewers continued to discuss the film outside the cinema in cafes, restaurants and in the media.
Director Campanella was previously nominated for an Oscar® in 2001 for his film “Son of the Bride.”  He works in both Argentina and the United States. In the US, he continues to be a favorite director amongst TV shows including “House, MD,”  “Law and Order: SVU,” and “30 Rock.”

“THE SECRET IN THEIR EYES” is produced by Tornasol Films, Haddock Films and 100 Bares Producciones.
