Marthia Sides is a country crossover singer/songwriter and a classically trained opera singer. (Which makes me want to know if she yodels!)  The multi – talented performer was playful nickname “the NYC opera Singer “ while appearing on CMT’s reality competition show “Popularity Contest”.  Her training adds a delicate flavor to her songs.

Don’t expect whiny country music from Sides she has a modern sound with strong country- roots. Her voice reflects her dedication to becoming a country force to be noticed.

Marthia Sides has a fantastic website. Like or don’t like her music, either way check out marthia.com a tiny Marthia comes out sings and talks to you.

“Perfect Girl” was her first single.  The song sends a clear message, she isn’t going to put up with any more shit from this guy and is moving on! “Perfect Girl” resonated with listeners and received play on small and large radio markets.

“I’ve got it bad”. Is a beautifully executed blend of country and blues. It is my favorite track and I recommend you listen to it.

“Some Assembly Required” is a perfect song for Sides’ voice. Recording the song was a case of serendipity.  She found of the song by chance while visiting music producer Jim Vest.  Sides convinced Vest the song would be suited for her. It was a case of voice meets music!  The playful song is a high spirited song that laments the pitfalls of dating and trying to find the right guy.

“I Got Faith” continues Sides on going work to empower women through her music. The song is the story of a woman whose friends are all married with children. Women can identify with her predicament of living paycheck to paycheck. The songs sends a positive message, you aren’t a failure. You only fail when you give up or you are dead. The song is definitely a toe tapper.

Check out her songs on MySpace.

In the wake of the recent Nashville flood, rising country artist Marthia Sides, who resides in Nashville and was also evacuated from her home close to the Cumberland River, and friends recently teamed up to put on a benefit concert for victims of the Nashville floods on May 12.

Held at Center Stage, the benefit raised money for Country Cares and was a success thanks to the artists who volunteered their time to perform, including Marty Raybon (former lead singer of Shenandoah); legendary country music artist Razzy Bailey; Lofton Creek Records artist Kristina Cornell; Grammy & Dove nominated contemporary Christian group DecemberRadio; Rachel Williams (former Nashville Star finalist); Thom Shepherd (hit songwriter for such songs as “Redneck Yacht Club”); Megan Linville; Clay Underwood; Vicki Raye; Kenny Olsen; Tim Akers (band leader for Rascal Flatts); Lindsey Hager; Chris Golden (son of William Lee Golden and band member of the Oak Ridge Boys); Charlotte Melody; Marc Eric; Rodeo; and Tommy York. Marthia also performed during the event.

“After speaking with friends who lost everything, I just couldn’t image starting from the ground up again. I decided to create an event and bring my love of music and my compassion for the flood victims together to help organize ‘Country Cares,’” said Sides.

  1. Piss on the piece of gov. paper. If you lose your wallet with your operators license in it did you also lose your driving skills? Same with ham radio, ohms law still functions in the universe without your papers being in order.

  2. Thank you so much. It makes all the difference in the world that wonderful women like you are standing with me in prayer. Thank you! I/We know that it’s because of all of us seeking God that change is happening. Have a wonderful day of Thanks.
