SPIRIT OF THE SUWANNEE MUSIC PARK, LIVE OAK, FLA – Come join the many folks who attend the 3rd Annual FMZA/IMZA Miniature Zebu Extravaganza at The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park (SOSMP) Aug. 21-22.  You do not want to miss this event so gather your family, friends and kids and come on out! Don’t forget your camera!

Zebu cattle heights range up to 42″ but it is the goal of the FMZA/IMZA to breed 35″ maximum height while maintaining good conformation and type. Miniature Zebu serve many purposes, including 4-H projects, kid’s rodeo and as pets.

Florida has dozens of miniature Zebu owners with the largest population of Zebu cattle in the US, according to the FMZA/IMZA Miniature Zebu Association. Many of these owners will gather at the SOSMP for this show. An open Zebu show and youth show will be held. The Youth show will begin about 9 a.m. Saturday with the open show at 1:30 p.m. Sunday there will be a meet and greet beginning at 9 a.m. to provide information on Zebu miniature cattle followed by a cattle sale. The event will be held at Suwannee Stables at the SOSMP where you may learn all about these wonderful little animals or plan to take some home with you.

Larry and Ann Harper, who now oversee the stable operation at the SOSMP, are avid Zebu owners and are hosting this show along with the SOSMP. Ann is president/secretary of the Florida Miniature Zebu Association. The couple showed the reserve champion steer in the 2009 Reserve Champion Steer.

There will be cash prizes for the miniature Zebu cattle owners bringing the most cattle and owner traveling the farthest. In addition, there will be special amenities for the competitors. Regular SOSMP gate fees apply for this event at $2 per person or $5 per carload, whichever is cheaper.

While you’re at the SOSMP, enjoy canoeing, hiking, golf cart rental, mini and disc golf, check out our live honey bee display, visit the rustic Arts and Crafts Village, The Store of the Village, ice cream parlor or just sit back and relax while you watch the tea-colored Suwannee River make its way past this spacious resort. You may also like to stop by the SOSMP’s brand new radio station located in the Arts and Crafts Village. Don Miller will broadcast his bluegrass program live from 5 – 7 p.m. every Sunday evening.

The SOS Café and Restaurant is always open for lunch and dinner during special events and features delicious food from the menu and specials like ribs, steak, prime rib, catfish and much more. Breakfast is available Saturday and Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m.

The SOSMP is located at 3076 95th Drive 4.5 miles north of Live Oak, Fl off US 129 at the famous Suwannee River. The park is 4.5 miles south of Interstate 75 and 4.5 miles north of Interstate 10 off US 129.
