Love time traveling? Then the Tardis Mug is the perfect drinking accessory for you, although you won’t be using this to guzzle down beers, but rather, sip your favorite hot beverage. This Tardis-style mug will definitely have the Dr. Who mood, since whenever you pour some hot tea or coffee in it and then take it somewhere cold, you will be able to enjoy watching steam pouring out of it. Heck, it looks so real, it even comes complete with the St. John Ambulance badge as well as white notice on the door.  At $15.99 a pop, you won’t be traveling through time anytime soon, but you can stop time as people look at your cool mug.

Mark Zuckerberg appeared on Saturday Night Live and seemed comfortable in front of the cameras. See the video.

Mark Zuckerberg met Jesse Eisenberg, who’s portrayal of him has landed an Oscar nomination, for the first time last night on Saturday Night Live.

Zuckerberg, the youngest billionaire on the planet, appeared along side Jesse Eisenberg in a SNL skit that was actually funny. Mark Zuckerberg stayed after the skit to close the opening segment.  Eisenberg and Zuckerberg high-fived at the end!  Zuckerber “poked” fun at himself and did a great job.

River Song is one of my current “character” crushes. There could definitely be a girlmance with her. Alex Kingston is a remarkable actress who’s playful style makes River song irresistible. She has made “Spoilers.” my favorite quote.

Kingston said she was living in the US and had no idea how popular the new Doctor Who series was when she accepted the part of River Song.

She told the February issue of Reader’s Digest: “I’m not allowed to breathe a word about the new storylines… otherwise, they take away my sonic screwdriver. When I was first offered the part, I had no idea how successful the new Doctor Who was because I was in the US. But as soon as I read the script, I fell in love with River.”

“She provides a very complex link to the Doctor’s life and ever since I saw Alien, a little bit of me has wanted to run around a spaceship shooting intergalactic monsters.”

Alex, who also stars in ITV drama Marchlands, said ageism was more “ruthless” in the US than the UK. She said: “I had a bit of facial fat removed when I first started on ER, because they always had trouble lighting my face and it was making me a bit self-conscious.

“But it was definitely not about getting old! All that nipping and tucking? Sticking stuff in your lips? No, thank you!”

She continued: “Yes, ageism happens in the US, but ageism happens everywhere. Mind you, I have to admit that it’s not as ruthless in the UK.

“There always seem to be plenty of good female roles for actors in their thirties and forties. Look at some of the great soap characters. Maybe British audiences enjoy seeing more realistic TV.”

::The latest issue of Reader’s Digest is out today (January 28).

BEING HUMAN, the original hit surpernatural series from BBC America about a group of friends trying to live normal lives despite their unusual afflictions, is back – and, says creator and writer, Toby Whithouse, “It is, without doubt, our best season yet.” Continues Whitehouse: “A third season is a unique opportunity because it allows you to take all the best bits of season one and season two. What we took from season one is the domestic element and very strong stories of the week with very strong guest characters. Season two had much more of an epic sweep and a breadth of ambition. Season three has allowed us to combine all those things.” Being Human stars Russell Tovey, Sinead Keenan, Lenora Crichlow as four friends doing the best they can to cope with the supernatural challenges of their lives while trying to blend in with their human neighbors. The showdown last season with Kemp and Lucy Jaggat has forced some changes for the friends. Couple George and Nina plus Mitchell have fled their beloved house in Bristol and are looking for a new house to rent in Wales. They are also without Annie, who is stuck in purgatory and desperately trying to escape. Being Human premieres on Supernatural Saturday, February 19, 9:00pm ET/PT for eight weeks. Leaving the memories of their much-loved former house behind, George, Nina and Mitchell settle into their new home – a kitsch bed and breakfast named Honolulu Heights that boasts many benefits for supernatural sharers – a large basement providing a safe and sheltered environment on a full moon, for one. Season three boasts an impressive array of guest-stars, including Lacey Turner (EastEnders) as Lia, who Mitchell meets in Purgatory, Robson Green (Wire In The Blood) as primitive werewolf McNair, Michael Socha (This Is England ’86) as McNair’s son Tom, Paul Kaye (It’s All Gone Pete Tong) as twisted vampire Vincent, Craig Roberts (Young Dracula) as teenage vampire Adam; Nicola Walker (MI-5) as social worker Wendy, James Fleet (Four Weddings and a Funeral) as George’s father George Sr; and Jason Watkins making an eventful return as vampire leader Herrick. Being Human first premiered on BBC America in 2009 and quickly won over fans and critics alike, and has even spawned a US remake. The New York Times recently said that the UK series “has energy, and interesting characters, and a pulpy momentum that keeps you engaged in its kitchen-sink drama meets Bram Stoker story lines,” and Variety called it “improbably absorbing, wonderfully sly.” In addition, the cast and creator have appeared to sold-out crowds at the last two years of San Diego Comic Con.

Barbara Ireland's Turning Back Time

Barbara Ireland's Turning Back Time

Return to the classic jazz & blues nightclubs of the ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s where dim lighting, suits and gowns, and the scent of perfume and whiskey filled the atmosphere. Ireland’s sultry vocals shimmer above passionate jazz performances & hot sax solos.

Barbara Ireland has recorded sexy songs! The kind of music that make you want to rip his clothes off.   It is difficult to do justice these standards and almost in possible to please me singing  them. I admit I was skeptical when I started listening.   Ireland’s voice and styling brings out the best in the songs she has selected. “Turning Back Time – Classic Songs To Kiss By”  has won me over.  Purchase on CDBaby.

Read a complete review at Seattle PI. See excerpt below.

Seattle singer-songwriter Barbara Ireland’s new album is a world apart from the glam-punk she once performed as a member of The Fags and other bands.
Ireland’s new album, “Turning Back Time: Classic Songs to Kiss By,” is a sultry, sumptuous collection of jazz and blues from the 1930s, ’40s and ’50s.

Showbiz 411 have it that Bloom’s people are negotiating to get the star back for a small appearance in the first film and a major role in the bridge.

The Hobbit has been a clever beast to tame and it continues to be as Peter Jackson attempts to bridge the gap between his upcoming film and the LOTR trilogy. Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett and Ian McKellen have all been brought back for this “bridge” film, but we still don’t know if we’ll see Orlando Bloom’s dagger-wielding, bow-slinging elf, Legolas.

Sources at Showbiz 411 have it that Bloom’s people are negotiating to get the star back for a small appearance in the first film and a major role in the bridge. There’s no signatures on paper yet and there’s still no tell of what Viggo Mortensen or the others may be up to, but expect this to go through.

Artists employed by Wellington’s world-renowned Weta Workshop are lining up to win the right to create life-sized sculptures of the beloved Hairy Maclary children’s book characters.

The workshop, famous for its Oscar-winning efforts for movies like Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, has approached Creative Tauranga for information on the planned Hairy Maclary sculpture trail through Tauranga’s city centre.

Creative Tauranga chief executive Tracey Rudduck-Gudsell said there was already a lot of excitement around the project and it was great that the workshop’s artists, which included some former Tauranga locals, were so interested.

She received the best possible Christmas present late last year when the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust (TECT) agreed to put up the project’s $30,000 of seed funding.

“It is massive for this city,” she said of the plan to install up to 12 of the characters created by Tauranga author Dame Lynley Dodd through the downtown area.

She said TECT’s spontaneous decision indicated the enormous appeal of the project. All going well, she hoped that some of the sculptures would be in place by the time the Rugby World Cup began in September.

“It will be such a drawcard. Everyone has read a Hairy Maclary book, or has their favourite character.”

Alex Kingston (River Song) Photo
Alex Kingston (River Song) Shines at Sundance

“Like Crazy” It’s a film about how it feels to be in love; how beautiful, intense, addictive and debilitating love can be, but how necessary it is for us to experience as we get older and start sorting out our lives.
It’s a powerful film, to say the least, and it will most likely destroy those who’ve had experience with a long distance relationship. But Doremus makes it so warm, comfortable and full of humorous moments (special kudos to Anna’s scene stealing parents, played by the always wonderful Alex Kingston and Oliver Murihead)

Our annual celebration of RT cover stars is always a lively and celeb-strewn affair. And after you’ve seen the pictures, be sure to watch our video of the night – and look out for next week’s issue of Radio Times magazine, which will contain even more photos…

Star Trek Voyager’s Robert Picardo and producer/director/writer Dr. Harry Kloor will host the U.S. premiere of Quantum Quest, the 3-D computer animated Large Format adventure film, at the gala preview party of “Science With A Twist: An Evening Aboard The Enterprise” on Saturday night, January 22nd at the Louisville Science Center museum.

Quantum Quest interweaves animated sequences with stunning, actual space imagery captured from seven ongoing NASA and NASA/ESA space missions. In addition to Picardo, the film boasts an A-list voice cast including two Captain Kirks (veteran William Shatner and Chris Pine), two Jedi Knights (Mark Hamill and Samuel L. Jackson) and two Darth Vaders (James Earl Jones and Hayden Christensen) – a first for Hollywood and the galaxy. Quantum Quest will be released in Large Format and conventional theaters in spring, 2011.

Quantum Quest is the first time that NASA’s iconic Jet Propulsion Laboratory has ever initiated a film project and the first time that Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the surface of the Moon, has participated in a feature film, lending his voice to one of the characters.

Combining solid, “real” science with Hollywood-style narrative story-telling, Quantum Quest is designed to communicate the excitement of space exploration and science discovery to students K through 12.  Quantum Quest will provide more free educational materials, prepared by leading educators, scientists, space and science organizations (including the Fleet Museum and the Planetary Society), than any previous Large Screen film.

“This is a stealth science education film disguised as fun Hollywood entertainment,” says Dr. Kloor. “Whenever we talk about science, it’s exact, but QQ’s message is to tell kids – and grownups of all ages – that science is cool.”

You think you know the answer? This article walks you step by step through Peter Jackson's choices.

You might not know the answer. This article walks you step by step through Peter Jackson's decision to have Galadriel, Frodo and Legolas in The Hobbit movie .

This question was posed to Ask The Answer Bitch.

My first reaction was that Peter Jackson was including the stars from the LOTR trilogy in The Hobbit movie  to draw the LOTR fan base to the movie. That might have been a hasty assumption. Turns out there is more to  The Hobbit than expected.

Leslie Gornstein has done some in-depth research. She can account for the inclusion of the Cate Blanchett, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom characters.  Gornstein contacted Corey Olsen, who teaches J.R.R. Tolkien and medieval literature at Washington College in Maryland.  According to Olsen, Galadriel, Frodo and Legolas are, actually, very much a part of The Hobbit story.

According to Middle Earth scholars—oh yes, I hath dug them up—Hobbit director Peter Jackson knows very much what he’s doing…
In fact, his interpretation of  The Hobbit may be more accurate than mainstream quasi-nerds will ever give him credit for.
Ask The Answer Bitch talks about each character and why they should be included in The Hobbit movie.
