River Song is one of my current “character” crushes. There could definitely be a girlmance with her. Alex Kingston is a remarkable actress who’s playful style makes River song irresistible. She has made “Spoilers.” my favorite quote.

Kingston said she was living in the US and had no idea how popular the new Doctor Who series was when she accepted the part of River Song.

She told the February issue of Reader’s Digest: “I’m not allowed to breathe a word about the new storylines… otherwise, they take away my sonic screwdriver. When I was first offered the part, I had no idea how successful the new Doctor Who was because I was in the US. But as soon as I read the script, I fell in love with River.”

“She provides a very complex link to the Doctor’s life and ever since I saw Alien, a little bit of me has wanted to run around a spaceship shooting intergalactic monsters.”

Alex, who also stars in ITV drama Marchlands, said ageism was more “ruthless” in the US than the UK. She said: “I had a bit of facial fat removed when I first started on ER, because they always had trouble lighting my face and it was making me a bit self-conscious.

“But it was definitely not about getting old! All that nipping and tucking? Sticking stuff in your lips? No, thank you!”

She continued: “Yes, ageism happens in the US, but ageism happens everywhere. Mind you, I have to admit that it’s not as ruthless in the UK.

“There always seem to be plenty of good female roles for actors in their thirties and forties. Look at some of the great soap characters. Maybe British audiences enjoy seeing more realistic TV.”

  1. Can I just say what a aid to find somebody who truly is aware of what theyre talking about on the internet. You undoubtedly know easy methods to carry a problem to gentle and make it important. Extra folks have to learn this and understand this aspect of the story. I cant imagine youre no more well-liked because you definitely have the gift.

  2. I think their age difference will prevent the writers from having a full out affair. Several men have commented to me she is too old for him. When I point out that David Tennant was 11 years older than Billie Piper they don’t have anything to say.

There are a couple of things that I am wondering about. The Silent on the hill at the picnic was out of place. Also the bow tie straightening thing, it was to let us know that the Doctor can control human behavior by giving them a suggest while they are looking at a Silent.

River says she killed a “man” and stresses that. The Doctor has been reminding us that he is Time Lord not human.

  3. I think River Song is the wife of the doctor in 200 years time. I also believe that when she met the 10th doctor in the library and was killed that she changed the time line. Now they can never marry and he becomes less aware of who she is due to some memory problem as a result of the changed time line. I also believe she is the daughter of Amy and Rory and that she kills the doctor. Every time she escapes, she is trying to help the doctor, but she is also trying to ensure that he and she do not marry and that she changes the day that she killed him.

I also believe that some how River has time lord DNA and that is why she regenerates at the end of the opening two episodes of series 6.

River knows everything that is coming, but she cannot resist the doctor and every encounters changes the time line and the chances of her either having a life with a future doctor, or in fact killing him.

By the way, I personally believe that it is a pity she is in prison, as I actually think that the doctor should dump the idiot Rory and the over sexed Amy and have a more exciting companion in River Song.
