I have pretty much stopped doing music reviews because of time restraints but this one just had to be done! Georgia Possum band was in a press release from Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. There was nothing going on so I went to YouTube and found their video to listen to while I worked.
I usually listen to hip hop and rap music. My taste in music runs towards Eminem and 50 Cent BUT I am from the south and I embraced my redneckness years ago.
Georgia Possum got their name after bass player Tracy Hosey caught a live Georgia possum with his bare hands and turned it lose in the band house one night.
This is a very talented band with excellent vocals. Georgia Possum is the kinda band you can dance to. All. Night. Long. Their music is also suitable for car dancing.
In their “Boyz from da woodz” song and video they fully embrace and celebrate redneckness. The song goes from spot on to tongue-in-cheek with fun lyrics like ,” We don’t call women garden tools. (hoes)
When I saw the redneck drive by shooting, I damned near spewed my coffee. If you are from the south, in the south, wish you were a southerner or just like to make fun of rednecks, you will like this video. It is the Complete Redneck, right down to the chickens in the yard and the dried up grape arbor. (I am pretty sure I am related to “Mama”.
Number 3. Gone but never forgotten.
