Paranormal investigator Zak Bagans is a pretty recognizable guy.  He is the lead investigator on the hugely popular Travel Channel show “Ghost Adventures” and is the host and executive producer for the new show “Paranormal Challenge”.  A lot of people probably think they know quite a bit about him from watching him on television, but his new book “Dark World: Into the shadows with the lead investigator of the Ghost Adventures Crew” gives readers an unfiltered look into both the man and his many investigations.

With the help of friend and writer Kelly Crigger, Bagans divulges information about his life and the incident which ultimately led him into paranormal investigation.  The book explores some of the more famous investigations that Bagans has been on (Moundsville State Penitentiary, Sloss Furnace and Bobby Mackey’s  Music World, among many others) and gives readers more behind the scenes information that you didn’t see on television.

Kelly Crigger, a successful writer and former military man who has written numerous books and articles on Mixed Martial Arts, tells CFM how he became involved with “Dark World”.   “I was watching Zak’s show (Ghost Adventures)  about 2 years ago when I noticed he was wearing an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) shirt” says Crigger.  “Since I was a writer for a MMA magazine at the time, I contacted him to ask if he was a fan of the sport. He was, so I wrote an article about him in FIGHT! magazine called Boo Jitsu (http://www.kellycrigger.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/Boo-Jitsu.pdf ).

“After that he asked me to be on his Halloween, 2009 live show at the Trans Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in West Virginia and we struck up a friendship. The book just sort of happened when we were talking about writing one night.”  Crigger was a bit of a skeptic about the paranormal in the beginning. ” I was a middle-of-the-road guy when it came to the paranormal until I met Zak. After going on a few investigations with him and having several unexplained things happen, I’m more of a believer.”

The book is written in a very conversational style and is hard to put down.  The reader feels like they are sitting in a room with Bagans and picking his brain about his paranormal knowledge.  His wit and intelligence really come across on the page and there are a few laugh out loud moments in the chapters.

While the in-depth look at some of the more famous investigations is certainly a fascinating read, one of the best things about the book is the tips that Bagans includes for other aspiring paranormal investigators.  These sections really read like  a “how to” guide for newer investigators.  He breaks down the different types of equipment and explains not only how to use it but the scientific principles behind the devices.  This is invaluable information and is recommended reading for paranormal groups looking to expand their own investigations.

“Dark World” sold out in many outlets the morning it was released and bookstores have been scrambling to order extra copies.  Call your local bookstore or try www.amazon.com to get your hands on your own copy.  Whether you are a fan of  Zak Bagans, a paranormal investigator or a skeptic wanting to find out if what you see on TV is real, this book will not disappoint.  For those of you in the Lexington Kentucky area, Bagans will also be doing a book signing at this weekend’s “Scarefest”. 1. Does your website have a contact page? I’m
having a tough time locating it but, I’d like to shoot you
an email. I’ve got some ideas for your blog you might
be interested in hearing. Either way, great site and I look forward
to seeing it grow over time.

  2. I have been a fan of GAC for 2 yr’s now. At times I have not agreed on some things that Zak has tweeted on Twitter cz I thought he was all about fame, but then once I saw that he started getting involved w/fans inquiries, thoughts changed. I have been a believer of the unkown since I was 5 and have experienced a lot of happenings (the unexplained) throughout my life and as I write. I feel things around me and have been involved w/ the practice of paganism for about a yr now. I love how the guys involve their souls in each investigation. If I had the money, I would love to be in an investigation with them, but being a single mother with two kiddo’s. That’s on the back burner. I am just as happy watching them and my 4yr old Hunter, loves GAC:). I’m still waiting 4 my book that I ordered on Amazon, back in May. Hope I get it… No lie, but Zak & I knew of one another in past lives…. Not going into details because I’m sure things have been said of that before, lol… Loved the article…
