Jason Gates

The 2012 Las Vegas Paracon starts this Saturday and another great guest has just been added to the line-up: Jason Gates from Syfy’s “Haunted Collector”!

Jason Gates spent most of his life in Colorado and Idaho. He developed an interest in the paranormal at a very young age, pursuing legends in an effort to debunk them. It was not until he had a very strong personal experience that his interest changed from curiosity to a quest for the truth. Jason joined the California-based paranormal group, Paranormal EXP. This group focused on trying to find scientific evidence to either support or refute the existence of spirits. Now part of John Zaffis’s team, he is excited to learn from John, as well as help people in need. Jason believes that there is something out there, yet approaches every investigation as a skeptic hoping to be surprised. Jason acts as a researcher and investigator on Syfy’s “Haunted Collector”.

Come out to Bonnie Springs Ranch this weekend to meet Jason and the rest of the great guests.  If you still need tickets, go to .

CFM will be bringing you full coverage of the event so check back for updates!

The 2012 Paracon is just a couple of weeks away and Paranormal Enthusiasts from around the world will gather at the Historic Bonnie Springs Ranch to discuss the Paranormal, see the latest in gadgets and hang with a huge slate of Celebrity Guests.  August 31st – September 2nd, the place to be will truly be Bonnie Springs Ranch.

CFM has been profiling the guests that will be appearing at the 2012 Las Vegas Paracon and we wanted to save some of our “local” Las Vegas Celebs for last.  The Paranormal & Beyond is one of the premiere radio shows to deal with the Paranormal.  The show broadcasts out of the KDWN studios in Las Vegas and reaches 13 states in the Western U.A. as well as Mexico and Canada.  The show is currently in talks to expand their broadcast area to the East Coast.  Listeners from all over tune in each week to hear about topics such as hauntings, conspiracy theories, Religious controversies and the Occult.  The hosts are knowledgeable about all aspects of the Paranormal and clearly do their homework on every show.  They have great guests and callers and present thoughtful discussions with a sense of humor.

Host Michael Knight, who is also the founder of Knights Paranormal Research Society, suffered a near-death experience as a child.  Being born literally into the paranormal, Michael’s visions and passion into the unexplained keep him on a search for the undeniable truth of a “life after death”.

Sister Lindsay Knight’s upbringing was full of Paranormal activity right from the start. Being touched by apparitions and witnessing the macabre throughout her life, Lindsay’s passion for the Paranormal and empathic abilities cannot be denied.  Lindsay is the co-founder of Knights Paranormal Research Society and a host of The Paranormal & Beyond.

Rounding out this radio trifecta is Patrick Smith.  Patrick has had a passion for the Paranormal since he was a child. Watching specials on TV about haunted places and scouring the library to learn more on theories and research into the unexplained, fed Patrick’s passion for the field.  Patrick is what is known as a “Legend Tripper”, someone who searches for legends and tries to prove or disprove them.  After moving to Las Vegas from Missouri, Patrick was invited to be a guest on The Paranormal & Beyond and was eventually invited to be a co-host.

Michael, Patrick and Lindsay are very active in the Paranormal community and believe strongly in Paranormal Unity.  They have formed “The Sisterhood & Brotherhood of the Paranormal Alliance” in an effort to unity the community in hopes that it will create progress in the Paranormal Field.  The Alliance is currently helping out with efforts to preserve the town of Goldfield, Nevada – a mecca for Paranormal Investigators.

Besides being highly active and positive role models for the Paranormal community, Michael, Patrick and Lindsay are great people with fantastic ideas about how to further the Paranormal field.  They will be attending the 2012 Las Vegas Paracon from August 31st-September 1st to show their support for this one of a kind Paranormal event.  Stop by to say hi to them and get a picture or an autograph!

What people are saying about Moogfest:

“a perfect little weekend.” – NPR’s All Songs Considered

“If it sounds like a sort of Star Trek convention for synthesizer geeks (they “air knob” invisible electronic equipment instead of pretend-Stratocasters), in a way it is. But that’s precisely why Moogfest, after just two years, looks likely to become an annual fixture for Asheville – and a model for other towns and cities.”

“Moogfest 2011 will forever hold a sacred place in our hearts and memories, and it’s more than a safe bet that we’ll be game for (at least) one more magical round of synth-laden splendor before this world finally calls it quits.” — FILTER

“Moogfest came to a close Sunday with fans and business owners radiating warmth for the electronic music festival and its embrace of the city.”

Karl Urban

Attendees at the 2012 Comic Con in San Diego got a triple dose of “Dredd”.  Star Karl Urban and Lionsgate Films were out in full force to promote the September release of “Dredd: 3D”.  Starting on the Wednesday “preview night” of Comic Com, Lionsgate hosted a screening of press and a few fans at a theatre in downtown San Diego.  Stars Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby were on hand to introduce the film and attendees loved the gritty drama and 3D violence of the film.  Fans lined up for hours to get a sneak peek at this new “Dredd”, and even though only a handful of them gained admission, they reviews were all positive.

On Thursday, Karl Urban attended the “Masters of the Web” panel and spoke about the project. “We went really hard on this film.” says Urban.  “It’s more realistic (than the prior film version of “Judge Dredd”).  If this becomes one of those instant “cult classic” movies, I am cool with that.  I am really proud of this movie, it fuckin rocks!”

When asked about the new “Star Trek” film, Karl had this to say “J.J. (Abrams) is an excellent genius and there is seriously nobody that is directing like J.J. He is incredible.  And for me just going to work every day and work with the likes of Chris and Zack and Simon Pegg, you just don’t stop laughing all day long.  I feel really blessed.”  When asked who the villain was going to be in the new film, Urban pulled out a strip of tape that had “Dredd” written on it and put it over his mouth saying that J.J. Abrams had instructed him to do so if he was asked that question.

The following day, Lionsgate hosted an autograph signing at their booth and fans lined up three rows deep to get a chance to say hi to Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby.  Both were in good spirits and seemed to enjoy talking to the fans who had waited for hours to meet them.  Lionsgate provided huge “Dredd” posters and badges for those in attendance.

See Karl in all his “Dredd” finery when the film opens in 3D in the U.S. on September 21st.
