In Europe, Adalind (Claire Coffee) meets Prince Viktor (guest star Alexis Denisof), who’s come to bring those responsible for his cousin Eric’s demise to justice. Meanwhile, Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) responds to the recent attempt on his life. Bitsie Tulloch, Russell Hornsby, Silas Weir Mitchell, Reggie Lee and Bree Turner also star.
TWELVE DAYS OF KRAMPUS (airs December 13 at 10/9c)
A DARK JUSTICE DESCENDS ON PORTLAND AS THE CHRSITMAS SEASON BEGINS — After a string of delinquent teens go missing, an old Wesen tale of an evil Santa who brings more than just a lump of coal may be the prime suspect. The investigation intensifies as Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) take things a little too far. Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) enlists Juliet (Bitsie Tulloch) to surprise Rosalee (Bree Turner) for their first Christmas together with unintended results. Elsewhere, Captain Renard’s (Sasha Roiz) tour of Europe brings him closer to tracking down Adalind (Claire Coffee). Reggie Lee also stars.
Nick Burkhardt

Grimm – Fridays (9-10 p.m. ET) on NBC
David Giuntoli stars in NBC’s acclaimed drama series “Grimm” as Nick Burkhardt, the steadfast Portland detective turned Grimm-creature profiler.
In a short period of time and with a career that’s only starting to blossom, Giuntoli has compiled an expansive television resume, with roles on hit shows such as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Deep End,” “Privileged,” “Private Practice,” “Hot in Cleveland” and the MTV original movie “Turn the Beat Around.
Giuntoli has also appeared in the CBS pilot “The Quinn-tuplets,” alongside Amber Tamblyn and Molly Parker, as well as the NBC series “Love Bites.”
Eager to stretch beyond television, Giuntoli recently starred as Ryan in the independent feature “Caroline and Jackie,” directed by Adam Christian Clark, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival to exceedingly positive reviews.
Giuntoli grew up in St. Louis and attended Indiana University. After moving to Los Angeles, he studied under Christopher Fields before joining the acclaimed Echo Theater Company.
GRIMM – Fridays (9-10 p.m. ET) on NBC
“Grimm” is a drama series inspired by the classic Grimm Brothers’ Fairy Tales. After Portland homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, “Caroline and Jackie”) discovers he’s descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as ‘Grimms,’ he increasingly finds his responsibilities as a detective at odds with his new responsibilities as a Grimm.
Now that Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch, “Parkland”) has learned Nick’s secret, he can bring her into the fold with his partner Hank (Russell Hornsby, “Lincoln Heights”) and his Wesen friends Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell, “My Name is Earl”) and Rosalee (Bree Turner, “The Ugly Truth”). Following the events of season two, Nick will learn his abilities have grown exponentially. Unfortunately, so have the dangers, and he now will need all the help he can get to bring order to Portland’s Wesen community.
In Europe, major events have begun to unfold on behalf of the Royals. Nick’s Captain, Sean Renard (Sasha Roiz, “Pompeii”), has done what he can about his estranged family while working stateside, but may find himself needing to take a long overdue trip across the Atlantic. Also overseas is Adalind (Claire Coffee, “Franklin and Bash”), who continues her quest to regain her Hexenbiest powers by using the biggest bargaining chip she has her unborn child.
Reggie Lee (“The Dark Knight Rises”) returns as the ever-sarcastic Sgt. Wu. His time spent working with Nick and Hank may finally cause him to change his tone, however, when he sees more than he can handle.
“Grimm” is a Universal Television and Hazy Mills production. The series was created by David Greenwalt & Jim Kouf and Stephen Carpenter. Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner (NBC’s “Sean Saves the World” and “Hot in Cleveland”) and Norberto Barba (”The Bridge”) serve as executive producers along with Greenwalt and Kouf.

London, Sunday 8th December – British talent turned out this evening for the 16th Moët British Independent Film Awards. The winners were announced at the star-studded ceremony, held at Old Billingsgate which was hosted by BIFA Winning actor James Nesbitt.

For the first time, the lucky winners took home the brand new iconic award designed by Fredrikson Stallard and created by Swarovski.  The awards ceremony was streamed live exclusively online at

Best British Independent Film was won by METRO MANILA with the film’s director Sean Ellis picking up Best Director. Lindsay Duncan won Best Actress for LE WEEK-END and James McAvoy won Best Actor for FILTH. Imogen Poots collected her BIFA for Best Supporting Actress for THE LOOK OF LOVE and Ben Mendelsohn took home Best Supporting Actor for STARRED UP.

METRO MANILA won the most awards on the night, picking up three trophies for Best Achievement in Production and as previously mentioned Best Director award and Best British Independent Film.

Joint Directors, The Moët British Independent Film Awards Johanna von Fischer & Tessa Collinson said: “This year our independent jury had an extremely tough job, they were asked to choose from an impressive pool of talent and creativity in a year where the diversity of storytelling is more extreme than ever. Thanks to an independent film industry which encompasses so many different cultures, personalities, visions and voices, Britain is producing a new generation of fearless artists both behind and in front of the camera who represent that richness of our diverse British society. With so many of the films exploring themes about being less judgmental and more forgiving, this perhaps reflects a movement within British independent filmmaking that brings much hope for the future.”

As previously announced, Julie Walters was awarded the coveted Richard Harris Award for outstanding contribution by an actor to British film, and Paul Greengrass the Variety Award, which recognises an actor, director, writer or producer who has helped to shine the international spotlight on the UK. To toast the successes of 2013, guests joined us in creating a seven – foot champagne fountain to salute a year of amazing achievements.’

The Raindance Award was won by THE MACHINE. Elliot Grove, Founder of BIFA and the Raindance Film Festival added: “The breadth, scope and quality of this year’s nominated films shows that British independent films and talent are not only the talk of the town but the talk of audiences everywhere.”

“Grimm” is no stranger to adapting lore from around the world with stories from Japan, Haiti and Germany influencing the storytelling of the hit drama series.  Last season, “Grimm” borrowed from one of Latin America’s most infamous urban legends “La Llorona” for a well-received Halloween episode with guest star Kate del Castillo.  On Friday, November 29, “Grimm” returns with a new episode inspired by another Latin American urban legend, “El Cucuy.”  The episode centers on a mysterious vigilante taking things into their own hands to clean up the neighborhood.  Just like in “La Llorona” portions of the dialogue will be in Spanish in scenes featuring Bitsie Tulloch and Bertila Damas who returns a Pilar.  Manny Montana (USA Network’s “Graceland”) also guest stars in the episode.

“Grimm” airs on Fridays on NBC.

“The Walking Dead” To Get Spinoff Series

AMC’s hugely popular series “The Walking Dead” to get spin-off series in 2015

The cable channel revealed today that it is in “the initial stages of developing a companion series” to its hyper-successful adaptation of the long-running Image Comics series co-created and written by Robert Kirkman about a group of human survivors in a world filled with the undead. Kirkman is part of the group developing the spinoff, acting as executive producer on the project alongside Walking Deadexecs Gail Anne Hurd and David Alpert.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe,” said Kirkman in a statement included the network’s announcement, adding that “the opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.” AMC president Charlie Collier promised that the show would feature “an entirely new story and cast of characters,” while offering “another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

More details are sure to be released soon about the new series, which is set to premiere in 2015.  Catch current episodes of “The Walking Dead” on AMC Sunday nights at 9pm.

A Long, Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Known as Chico……

When the Pageant Theatre opened its doors way back in 1980, it was a bit of a lark for owners Tim & Roger as they thought, “Hey, let’s open an art house movie theatre. How hard could that be?” Right. The stories that could be told.

Who knew that 34 years later that little theatre that could, would, and is still providing the Chico area with the best in foreign, independent and documentary films. And now, as you’ve heard already, that ability is being challenged by new technology. No longer will those huge heavy reels of 35MM film come rolling into town to be spliced, hoisted onto mechanical drives and projected onto the screen.(Actually, we won’t miss the first two parts of that equation). Instead, it is all digital now, baby.

But that means that some 10,000 screens in the United States will go dark because of the burdensome cost of this changeover. We do not want to be one of them.

It really will come down to next two months as to whether we will be able to join the 21st Century or go by the wayside. So we hope you can be generous with your donations. Check out the wonderful “premiums” and gifts that we will be offering in turn, including the limited edition Aye Jay screen print of the Pageant Theatre, T-Shirts and Hoodies from American Apparel with the Pageant logo, and wonderful Stainless Steel Pageant Travel Mug, and so much more.

This is a “do or die” effort. If we don’t meet the fundraising goal by December 31st, we don’t get a dime, all funds will be returned, and it’s a sad sayonara to the Pageant. If we exceed our goal, extra funds will be used for other much needed theatre improvements like new seating!!

And, finally, SPREAD THE WORD! let all your friends—Facebook or otherwise– in on our little secret.

One thing that most bands have in common is the search for fans. Last Stop Booking has some excellent ideas. The emphasis is on having the band members staying active. Take turns and work on different days,  do whatever it take to make sure you are active on Facebook and Twitter.

Two or more posts everyday and make sure you respond to anyone who posts on your page or comments on your page. Remember you feel like a normal person but you aren’t to the fans. Think about how excited you would be if your favorite band took the time to respond to your post or comment.

“Do you sometimes feel that your band’s draw is languishing? Are you tired of seeing the same people at your shows and want to play to a new crowd, even in your hometown?

If you’re like most musicians, you know that you absolutely can do better, that you have more fans out there than who actually show up at the venue, and despite always receiving positive feedback, you don’t know why more people aren’t showing up. Here are some tips on building some momentum back into your tour dates so you can increase your band’s draw:”

Marvel Entertainment has been producing great films featuring the likes of Ironman, Captain America and the Hulk in both stand alone and group films for the past several years.  These films intertwine to create the Marvel Universe, but can also be viewed as stand-alone pieces.  The latest offering out of the Marvel stables in “Thor: The Dark World” which opens in theatres in the United States tomorrow.

The film is set after the battle of New York, which was seen in Joss Whedon’s “Marvel’s The Avengers” last year.  After returning Loki (Tom Hiddleston) back to Asgard to face imprisonment for the destruction in New York, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) returns to do battle with Malekith (Doctor Who’s Christopher Eccleston), the vengeful leader of a primordial race that seeks to destroy the Nine Realms.  With even Odin (Anthony Hopkins) unable to protect Asgard from the approaching darkness, the god of thunder reunites with Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and Loki as he prepares to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to save the world from certain destruction.

“Thor: The Dark World” sees more action and special effects than Kenneth Branagh’s original “Thor” film, which was more of a character study that set up the backstories of all of the main characters.  “Thor: The Dark World” is a fast-moving piece with a lot of stunts and explosions that will keep audiences entertained from start to finish.

The characters in the “Thor” universe are so well-defined at this point that the interaction between them seems effortless.  Nowhere is this more apparent, than between brothers Thor and Loki.  Their bickering and digs at each other will seem more than familiar to anyone who has siblings.  Both Hemsworth and Hiddleston have perfected their portrayals of the demi-gods and are so secure in their characters that their time on-screen is the best thing about the films.   Other stand-outs in the film include Kat Dennings as Jane Foster’s intern Darcy, Stellan Skarsgard as Eric Selvig and Idris Elba as Heimdall.

To see Thor try to save the world, check out “Thor: The Dark World” when it opens in theatres tomorrow.

Billy (Michael Douglas), Paddy (Robert De Niro), Archie (Morgan Freeman) and Sam (Kevin Kline) have been best friends since childhood. However, upon arriving, the four quickly realize that the decades have transformed Sin City and tested their friendship in ways they never imagined. The Rat Pack may have once played the Sands and Cirque du Soleil may now rule the Strip, but it’s these four who are taking over Vegas.

Hunger can do strange things to a person. (Drawing courtesy of artist TL Arens.)

We live in a small town in northern California. Living just east of no where means driving to see bands. When we started CFM my friend and I drove to Sac for a metal concert. We left half deaf with ringing ears and hungry. (That was the last time I forgot the earplugs!) The locals recommended a restaurant that was so crowded there was a waiting line to get into the parking lot. We decided it was too late at night and the drive ahead was too long to eat there. The next place that was open had a dark, kinda creepy parking lot. Yeah, two women in the middle of the night, not such a good idea. Finally, we found a place open and settled for not so good Mexican food. The most memorable moment was laughing when the kid that took our order asked if we had been at the concert, we were screaming at him without realizing it.

 photo jacks_munchie_meal-closed_box450pi_zps2aa10f38.jpg

Like many small towns our entertainment is going to Wal-Mart. Friday night we finished our late night shopping and Wal-Mart was closing. We decided to check out the Late Night Munchie Meals at Jack in the Box. I admit that it had been a while since I had been to our Jack in the Box. Let me say, we have an awesome Jack in the Box! The parking lot is properly lit and the store was spotless. There were none of the expected stray napkins on the floor. I have worked as a Secret Shopper for other companies and it has made me very aware of things you wouldn’t normally notice. The employees were wearing clean uniforms and the kitchen area looked great. They would have gotten a perfect score!

Tyler greeted us and explained the Late Night Munchie Meals menu. It was not easy to decide. I started laughing when Tom told Tyler he didn’t have to wait for us to decide if he had something to do. Tom is an honest to goodness foodie and he was overwhelmed. I couldn’t help thinking that in my late night munchies college days I would have ended up standing there for a very long time deciding. It was not a tough decision for me that night I couldn’t wait to try the Exploding Cheesy Chicken!

Chicken! Mozzarella sticks! How could you go wrong?

The meals are only served after 9pm. Your entree comes in a box with 2 tacos, halfsies which is half curly fries and half French fries and a 20 oz. drink.

Tom said, “You get one of these, 2 tacos, curly fries with french fries and a drink for only $6?”

This is how Jack in the Box describes Jacks Munchie Meals.

Stacked Grilled Cheese Burger – Sourdough grilled cheese on top, cheeseburger on bottom. Tucked into this tasty bunk bed.

Loaded Nuggets – Chicken Nuggets drowning in two kinds of cheese with ranch and bacon. Rescue them!

Brunch Burger – A burger with a fried egg and a crispy hash brown for when it’s so late you don’t know whether it’s dinner or breakfast.

Exploding Cheesy Chicken – A chicken sandwich exploding with mozzarella cheese sticks and gooey white cheese sauce. Oh my cheesy goodness.

This is a photo of my Exploding Cheesy Chicken. It won’t look like the ones in the Jack in the Box ads because, I am allergic to lettuce. When I asked if I could get it without lettuce, the manager on duty, Brock told me it wasn’t a problem because they are made to order. Far out!

Exploding Cheesy Chicken

My Exploding Cheesy Chicken. The white cheese sauce is killer.

Exploding Cheesy Chicken is heavenly! It was even better than expected. We are restaurant folks and had doubts about the tacos. Burgers to tacos? Restaurant can’t always add new products successfully. Jack in the Box does it perfectly. Tom said the tacos were some of the best he had ever had and from him that is a major compliment!

This is one of the funniest commercials ever.

You really do have to experience these meals. The next time you are out after 9pm doing who knows what, gettin your freak on, stop into Jack in the Box and eat a really, really good tasting meal.

Still out at 2am…Jack don’t judge. We don’t need no stinking salads, in the middle of the night.

My Exploding Cheesy Chicken was one of the best sandwiches I have eaten in the night or day time.

On the way out we notice a sign on the door. It said: Text JACKCHI to 31278. I did and Jack sent me a coupon text for 2 FREE Tacos with a purchase that is good for seven days. Me and Jack are tight.

The Jack in the Box visit was also educational. After we had eaten, we learned the ancient art of napkin folding. Tom made the cabbage and I made the marble.

The next video starts out with Wood looking a little bit like he expects someone to tell him it is a joke.

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs Sunday Oct. 14 on AMC.

Yes I know about MST3K:
If you’re wondering how he eats and breathes
and other science facts (la-la-la),
Just repeat to yourself, “It’s just a show,
I should really just relax…”

I am not a die hard fan but I have watched a few episodes.  I have questions.

1. Working under the premise it is a sin to kill someone, is it a sin to kill a zombie that isn’t attacking you?

2. Where is he getting all those arrows? Even if he reuses them, they have to be damaged.

3. Are there ugly female survivors?

4. The women are plucking their eyebrows, washing and cutting their hair why aren’t they bathing?

5. They don’t seem to have a lot of supplies, where are they getting tampons?

6. Why can’t zombies use their arms? They can remember how to walk upstairs but not open a door?

Fright Dome at Circus Circus has been scaring visitors for the past 11 years and has quickly become one of the country’s premiere Halloween attractions.  This year, they are increasing the number of haunted houses for the first time with a sixth stand-alone maze based on Fortress Features Horror film “The Collection”. The isolation-type maze, appropriately titled “Hotel Argento” will take only upgraded fast pass guests into the depths of the Collector’s lair. Separated from friends and forced to enter alone, guests will forge their way through traps and snares, the Collector’s demented assortment of barely coherent victims, museum-esque displays of lifeless prey and much more — all while being hunted themselves. Will they make it out… or will they become the next victim added to his meticulous collection?

Owner and creator of the Fright Dome, Jason Egan, spoke about the new collaboration. “We’ve always had one of the top haunted attractions in the nation and I have been able to team up with amazing movie partners for incredible themes over the years. I couldn’t think of a better fit for our isolation-style haunted house, or for any haunted house for that matter, than the story behind THE COLLECTOR. The overall premise behind the movie is every horror fan’s worst nightmare- being singled out and hunted by a devious villain. I’m thrilled that our fans have embraced this event every year allowing us to grow and make this year truly the most ominous yet.”

The 2013 season of Fright Dome kicked off last night with a star-studded black carpet event.  This year Fright Dome’s official charity will be the NSPCA.  $1 of each ticket sold every Sunday will be donated to the charity and the NSPCA was on-hand for the opening showcasing some of the great dogs they have up for adoption.  Fright Dome’s Jason Egan and his wife adopted a great dog during the black carpet event last night.

Local celebrities turned out to support both the Fright Dome and the NSPCA.  “Evil Dead: The Musical” was one of the local productions to support the event.  The shows producer/director Sirc Michaels said “The Nevada SPCA has done a lot for animals in this community, and when they asked us to walk the black carpet at the Fright Dome for them, it seemed like the perfect fit for us. Just about everyone involved in the show has pets, and we understand the need to show support for a charity like NSPCA. We encourage everyone to do what they can to support no-kill shelters in the community.”Performers from other local shows “Vegas: The Show”, “Jabbawockeez”, “Pin-up”, “Jersey Boys” and comedian Murray Sawchuck also came out to show their support.
