Help Save The Pageant Theatre – A Tiny Art House Movie Theatre

A Long, Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Known as Chico……

When the Pageant Theatre opened its doors way back in 1980, it was a bit of a lark for owners Tim & Roger as they thought, “Hey, let’s open an art house movie theatre. How hard could that be?” Right. The stories that could be told.

Who knew that 34 years later that little theatre that could, would, and is still providing the Chico area with the best in foreign, independent and documentary films. And now, as you’ve heard already, that ability is being challenged by new technology. No longer will those huge heavy reels of 35MM film come rolling into town to be spliced, hoisted onto mechanical drives and projected onto the screen.(Actually, we won’t miss the first two parts of that equation). Instead, it is all digital now, baby.

But that means that some 10,000 screens in the United States will go dark because of the burdensome cost of this changeover. We do not want to be one of them.

It really will come down to next two months as to whether we will be able to join the 21st Century or go by the wayside. So we hope you can be generous with your donations. Check out the wonderful “premiums” and gifts that we will be offering in turn, including the limited edition Aye Jay screen print of the Pageant Theatre, T-Shirts and Hoodies from American Apparel with the Pageant logo, and wonderful Stainless Steel Pageant Travel Mug, and so much more.

This is a “do or die” effort. If we don’t meet the fundraising goal by December 31st, we don’t get a dime, all funds will be returned, and it’s a sad sayonara to the Pageant. If we exceed our goal, extra funds will be used for other much needed theatre improvements like new seating!!

And, finally, SPREAD THE WORD! let all your friends—Facebook or otherwise– in on our little secret.
