Even though the Salt Lake City Comic Con is only three years old, they have proved that they can bring the star power and provide fans with a fantastic experience.

Fans were particularly excited to see Sebastian Stan who is known in the Marvel Universe as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier in the Captain America Franchise.  Stan participated in photo ops and autograph sessions with fans and spoke before a capacity crowd of 4,500 plus fans who were all excited to hear any information about the upcoming “Captain America: Civil War” film.

Stan joked that he really wasn’t able to say anything about the film as Marvel has snipers at every appearance waiting to strike if they reveal any information.    He said that Captain America was really the first comic book he read and he was really excited to be a part of the franchise.  He was one of the last to find out that they were making “Captain America: the Winter Soldier”.  He was at San Diego Comic Con and a friend called him and said that the new film was going to be called the Winter Soldier and that is how he found out the news.

Stan said in the new film that he spends a lot more time on-screen with Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/Falcon) and they had a really good time filming together. He also joked that he talks a lot more in the upcoming film instead of the brooding looks that he was known for in “the Winter Soldier”.

In the comic books, Steve Rogers is killed and Bucky and Sam take over being Captain America, respectively.  Stan was asked if the films followed suit, would he rather see Bucky or Sam take over as Cap? Stan quickly answered “Myself” with a grin.  “I’ll say this: They sure like to dangle a cheese in front of my nose a lot. They’re like ‘Oh yeah, that’s where you pick up the shield,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’ve heard that one before. There it is again.’ But I don’t know. If I could say one thing, if anyone can have anything to do with it, to make it happen, is you,” he added referring to the fans in attendance. He also joked that having Anthony Mackie as Captain America would be like having Biff from “Back To the Future 2”.

A couple of fans asked Stan some questions in Romanian and he answered them in Romanian leading the moderator to joke that he gave away the plot to “Civil War” to them in Romanian.

An adorable young fan asked how he survived the fall off the train in the first Captain America film, “What happened was…..” Stan said “I was trying to break my fall with my left arm and I kinda like wasn’t really able to do that, so I fell and knocked my head on a rock.  And the next thing I know I woke up and  there were like a bunch of lab coats around me. ”

Stan also spoke about his friendship with Chris Evans, “We stay in touch here and there. Once in a while we run into each other, like we will in a few hours.  I may not see Chris for a few months, or I might not see him for a year or two, but it always picks up where it left off”.

Sebastian Stan was charming and seemed genuinely pleased to see all of the fans that had traveled out to see him at the 2015 Salt Lake City Comic Con.
