THE COLLECTORLos Angeles, CA (June 16, 2009) – Liddell Entertainment has acquired U.S. theatrical rights to Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton’s home invasion horror-thriller THE COLLECTOR, it was announced today by Mickey Liddell, President of Liddell Entertainment.  Directed by Dunstan, from an original script by Dunstan and Melton, THE COLLECTOR is set for wide release on July 31, 2009.

 The project, produced by Fortress Features’ Brett Forbes and Patrick Rizzotti and Imaginarium Entertainment Group’s Julie Richardson, stars Josh Stewart (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Criminal Minds), Daniella Alonso (Friday Night Lights, The Hills Have Eyes 2), Michael Reilly Burke (Lincoln Heights, 24), Andrea Roth (Rescue Me, War), Madeline Zima (Californication, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), Karley Scott-Collins (Pulse 2, The Class), Robert Wisdom (The Wire, The Forgotten) and Juan Fernandez (The Lost City, A Man Apart).

 THE COLLECTOR follows the story of handyman and ex-con Arkin, who aims to repay a debt to his ex-wife by robbing his new employer’s country home.  Unfortunately for Arkin, a far worse enemy has already laid claim to the property – and the family. As the seconds tick down to midnight, Arkin becomes a reluctant hero trapped by a masked “Collector” in a maze of lethal invention – the Spanish Inquisition as imagined by Rube Goldberg – while trying to rescue the very family he came to rob.     

 Dunstan and Melton, who came into the national spotlight for their winning screenplay Feast on Project Greenlight’s third season, have been shepherding the Saw franchise for the past three installments, having written Saw IV, V and the upcoming Saw VI.

 “Marcus and Patrick have come up with a unique twist on the home invasion thriller that we think will have people gripping their seats,” said Liddell.  “With its stylized blend of action and horror, the movie delivers on every level.”

Writer/Director Jennifer Lynch brings a dark tale of serial killers in the rural Midwest to the screen with “SURVEILLANCE”, opening in select theatres on June 26th. This gritty and often shocking film stars Bill Pullman and Julia Ormond as FBI agents who are following the trail of a pair of serial killers. As the story develops, we learn that no one is truly what they seem and most of the characters portray themselves in ways that may not be truly honest. CFM sat down with the stars and director to gain more insight into this troubling, and often darkly funny, piece.

Director Jennifer Lynch has had a tumultuous decade since the release of her feature debut “BOXING HELENA”. Personal problems and multiple spinal surgeries has kept her out of theatres for an extended period of time. She wanted “SURVEILLANCE” to be her follow up because she loved the characters. Co-writer and star Kent Harper had brought her a script that he wanted her to look at. While that film was not the right project for Lynch, she was interested in many of the ideas and characters he had created. There was a pair of corrupt cops in the original draft, which Lynch found interesting, as well as a very observant little girl that sees things that adults often do not. Lynch and Harper “started talking about what was scary when you are out in the middle of nowhere. I wanted to break down people’s reality of what evil looks like. More often than not, people do really bad things to each other. It all comes down to one question: will telling the truth save your life?”

Casting was an easy process for Lynch. She has been long term friends with many of the cast, including Bill Pullman, and everyone was keen to work with Lynch because of the sense of fun she brings to the set. Julia Ormond, who plays FBI agent Elizabeth Anderson, says that working with Jennifer Lynch was great because “she nurtures everyone on the set to get the best out of them.” Actress Pell James who plays drug addicted Bobbi also raves about working with Lynch. “Jen has been working on this project for years. She was very prepared and very fun to work with on set.” Indeed, Lynch spent 3 1/2 years from beginning to end working on this project. Having been friends with Bill Pullman for years, Jennifer gave him the original script and asked him to play Sam Hallaway. She developed the film for him and knew he was the one to play that role. When he read the first draft, he immediately said “no”. In retrospect, Lynch says that Pullman “was right. I re-worked the script and called him and said “why was it that you said no before exactly?” When Pullman read the new draft, he immediately said “yes”. Pullman clarifies, “when I read the original draft, I couldn’t really see Jennifer’s voice in it. It felt more “genre” than “Jennifer”. The second draft, I felt that it was her own word choices and vision.” FBI agent and Pullman’s partner of Elizabeth Anderson was much easier to cast. “Julia found me.” says Lynch. “She had read the script and called me and was interested in doing it. And I was like “Really?” “THE Julia Ormond?” Lynch says laughingly.

“SURVEILLANCE” has some very dark tones and themes. All of the cast and crew were aware of the heaviness of the subject matter, but the actual shooting was often a very funny experience. Pell James agrees. “There are lots of funny people in the film (Cheri Oteri, French Stewart) and on set, so even the really dark scenes were really funny when we were shooting them.” Young actress Ryan Simpkins plays the pivotal role of Stephanie, a little girl who sees more than the adults in the film, agrees. “It’s gory but fun. I don’t know if my friends will be able to see it though, cause it’s sort of gory and disgusting in places”.

Director Lynch says that she did feel a serious responsibility in protecting Ryan Simpkins from the darker scenes in the film. “There doesn’t seem to be any reason why a child should be tortured to elicit a certain response on film. I was very careful to shoot Ryan’s reaction to scenes that she never actual saw. When you watch the finished product it will look as though she was part of certain scenes but she was never actually on set during those shoots. I didn’t see a point to it.”

“SURVEILLANCE” has been getting good reviews from the film festival circuit and was much appreciated at the Cannes film festival. Pullman thinks this has to do with the main character’s love story. “These are 2 characters who live outside society’s laws. They are so intoxicated with each other that they can’t sleep.” Ormand adds “All of the characters in the film have some secrets, they are all flawed. And that makes them easy to identify with.”

ENTERPRISE, Ala., June 10 /PRNewswire/ — The 2009 Verizon Wireless BamaJam Music and Arts Festival ended Saturday, June 6th to a whopping crowd of more than 121,000, event organizer Ronnie Gilley confirmed. “This year’s BamaJam was a huge success.” Gilley said. “We felt like this was going to be a historical event,” Gilley added.

BamaJam is a three day, multi-stage, camping music festival that features some of music’s biggest stars. Taylor Swift’s Thursday night performance closed out the festival’s opening day. She was followed by Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, The Black Crowes, Kid Rock, Charlie Daniels Band, Blake Shelton, Robert Randolph, and other top-name talent.

The LoCash Cowboys opened Friday’s show on the main country stage, and Aaron Tippin sang his hits while assembling a bicycle on stage, which he presented to a Marine to forward to Toys for Tots. Charlie Daniels energized the stage with The Devil Went Down To Georgia, and at 72 years young, he continues to be one of country music’s most enduring performers.

Randy Owen, former lead singer of the mega-hit group Alabama was a definite crowd favorite. He belted out many of Alabama’s numerous hits during his hour and a-half set. A huge video screen then appeared on the stage to count down the seconds until Alan Jackson appeared to perform “Gone Country,” “Small Town Southern Man,” “Blues Man,” “Who’s Cheatin’ Who” and “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).” Former Trick Pony lead singer Heidi Newfield, was greeted enthusiastically when she began performing “What Am I Waiting For,” the title track of first solo album which spawned the hit, “Johnny and June.”

Pat Green arrived in typical style, bare-footed he sang “Carry On,” “Baby Doll,” “Feels Just Like It Should” and his latest single, “What I’m For.” Green invited Newfield and Randy Houser (who played on one of the smaller stages later that day) to join him on a rowdy rendition of the Waylon Jennings hit, “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way.”

BamaJam’s amazing lineup did not detract the huge crowd from attending this year’s festival despite occasional rainstorms and temperatures that rise to 90 degrees.

Both Jason Aldean and Gary Allan greeted the enthusiastic crowd each with performances from their repertoires.

Brooks & Dunn followed with their countless hits, and offered their own D-Day Anniversary tribute by being joined onstage by several branches of the Armed Forces to which they shot out streamers to the crowd, inviting BamaJammers to join them in their salute.

The most touching performance of the evening is perhaps by Country Music legend George Jones, who was not scheduled to perform and surprised the audience by his stirring rendition of Amazing Grace, dedicated to those that had perished during the tornado that devastated the area in 2007. The song is from the CD, We Are Enterprise, which benefits the local community.

Kid Rock, the festival’s closing act hit the stage with “Rock-n-Roll Jesus.” “I’ve been in Alabama for a few days now,” he said as he held up an Alabama helmet with antlers — one that had been taken from his good friend Hank Williams Jr.’s home. “He doesn’t know it yet!” Rock bragged. After that, hip-hop rap-rock superstar Kid Rock ended the festival with a little “Cowboy” and “All Summer Long”.

BamaJam is known for drawing country music acts such as Blake Shelton, John Anderson and Brooks & Dunn, but by Kid Rock closing the festival it highlighted the fact that BamaJam branched out to draw many fans of different music genres.

The Alternative Stage at BamaJam this year provided entertainment from The Black Crowes, The Whigs, Shooter Jennings, Robert Randolph, Colt Ford, Umphrey’s McGee, and G.Love & Special Sauce, amongst others.

Gilley said he was “ecstatic” about the weekend. “The festival validated ticket sales from 47 states and seven countries,” he added. It certainly is an economic boom to his native Southeast Alabama. Next year may prove to be even more successful with the confirmation that Kenny Chesney will be headlining BamaJam 2010.

NEW YORK, June 10 /PRNewswire/ — It was announced today that 19 Recordings has signed Allison Iraheta, and her recordings have been licensed to Jive Records.

Allison made it to the Top 4 of the recently completed Season 8 of the FOX TV sensation American Idol. The vibrantly red-haired rocker was the youngest contestant ever (age 16) to make it into the Top 12. She had aspired to be on American Idol since its debut in 2002 when she was only 9. Early in the season Allison Iraheta caught the attention of Idol judges, with Kara DioGuardi commenting, “keep your eye on that girl!” One of her defining moments on the show was her performance of the heart-wrenching Bonnie Raitt classic “I Can’t Make You Love Me” in the Top 8 round of performances.

In just under a year, Theory Of Flight ( front man Beau Hodges, lead guitarist Vince Casas, bassist Joey McMahon, drummer Tyler Williams, rhythm guitarist Stephen Goodrum, and keyboardist John Colombo have created quite the buzz in the Vegas music scene. Theory Of Flight ’s live performances at hip venues such as House of Blues, Hard Rock Hotel, Diablo’s Cantina and Jillian’s have helped gain the band’s notable fan base. Tracks from the guys’ 2008 EP A Brilliant Display landed on the airwaves of alternative radio stations Area 108 FM, KOMP 92.3 and X107.5 FM.

With the success of the radio airplay combined with the ever-growing fan base, it was time to hit the ground running to create their highly anticipated full length album, Within Reach, due out in the Fall of 2009. Charismatic country-rock singer/songwriter Steve Richard (, whose songs have been rocking the house nationwide, wrapped the music video shoot for his latest single “Stomp” on June 19 in Watertown, just outside of Nashville. The single written and produced by John Rich of the superstar duo Big & Rich, is garnering airplay on country radio stations across the U.S.

The clip’s award winning director, Roman White of Revolution Pictures, has done videos for numerous country superstars, including Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift.

A new line dance for “Stomp,” will soon be introduced and is primed to take the nation by storm. It is being developed by famed line dance choreographer Barry Amato, who with his wife Dari Ann instructed The Nashville Network’s “Wildhorse Saloon Show and Club Dance” TV series.

Richard is set to attend the upcoming CMA Music Festival in Nashville, June 11-14. He will perform live at the Cadillac Ranch on Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13.
