Details as to why The Doctor will have facial hair are yet to be unveiled, but Smith admitted to that he would not have been able to grow his own beard for the episode.
“It was a glued-on beard,” he said. “I wouldn’t be able to grow a full-on beard like that in time.”
Smith added that it was particularly difficult to peel away the faux hair at the end of each day’s shooting schedule.
“They had to remove it with a substance smelling like white turps,” he said.
