Davi will perform songs from his critically-acclaimed debut album
‘Davi Sings Sinatra: On The Road To Romance’ in Las Vegas this February.

ulti-talented singer, film and TV star Robert Davi is set to heat up The Venetian Showroom for a special three-night engagement February 23, 24, 25 in Las Vegas. Davi will deliver a slate of memorable tunes made popular by the success of his critically acclaimed debut Davi Sings Sinatra: On The Road To Romance (Fontana/Universal Music Group).

Don Heckman, music critic for Los Angeles TimesInternational Review of Music, etc, said [of Davi’s live performance]: “Davi is something special. Start with his charismatic presence, his laid back Italian manner and above all, his musicality. By the time he’d finished his second number—’Nice ‘n’ Easy‘ – and was swinging smoothing through ‘At Long Last Love,’ it was apparent that he was clearly in touch with the content, the details and the spirit of Sinatra’s way with a song.”

Actor Dan Aykroyd (GhostbustersBlues Brothers) echoed Heckman’s sentiments: “His voice is suitably magnificent…Robert evokes the ease of [Sinatra] without coming off as a replicator. He makes these songs his own just like Dino and Mel did when they performed Frank’s material. He will give our audiences a rare, classy treat.”

A classically trained vocalist, Davi brings to The Venetian his own vocal panache,  the spirited swing of a powerful, historic orchestra and the creative intensity of legendary Grammy winning producer Phil Ramone (MadonnaPaul McCartneyGloria Estefan) to pave the ‘road to romance’ on his tribute to Sinatra’s musical legacy. Less than a month after its highly anticipated release, Davi Sings Sinatra, soared onto Billboard magazine’s Top 10 Traditional Jazz Charts.

“There are a lot of guys trying to do this music but Davi comes closest to what Sinatra did—but is himself, a  great voice, very cool old-school stuff, don’t miss it” said actor Mickey Rourke (The WrestlerIron Man 2).

A prolific actor, Davi is one of the most recognizable entertainers in the world—appearing in more than 100 major motion pictures. More than 30 years into his acting career, Davi planted the seeds for his long awaited emergence as a singer by recording “So Much In Love” on the soundtrack of “The Dukes,” the well received independent  film starring Davi, Chazz Palminteri and Peter Bogdanovich that marked his directorial debut.

Davi’s additional acting credits include his first cinematic role in “Contract on Cherry Street,” alongside Ol’ Blue Eyes, James Bond film “Licence To Kill,” and “The Goonies.”  Davi’s next major motion picture, “The Iceman (2013),” also stars Chris EvansWinona RyderMichael ShannonDavid SchwimmerRay Liotta and Maggie Gyllenhaal.

2012 Las Vegas Paracon will be held at famous Bonnie Springs Ranch on August 31st – September 2nd, 2012

Article by Suzanne Philips

Elite Vegas Paranormal

Elite Vegas Paranormal of Las Vegas is hosting the 2012 Las Vegas Paracon at Historic Bonnie Springs Ranch this August.  The event will bring several Paranormal celebs, paranormal groups and investigators, vendors and those curious about the Paranormal together for a weekend of great events.

The Elite Vegas Paranormal Society was founded in 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada by Brian, Linda and David Purdy. After years of dealing with David’s Night Terrors, and having little or no explanation for them, Linda began doing her own research on the little known subject, through books and internet sites. David’s Night Terrors consisted of acting out terrifying scenes of demons and ghosts at the age of 9. While these sudden outbursts during the middle of the night eventually stopped on their own, David continues to talk and see these apparitions. Over time, the family found that they all had a fascination with the spirit world. Fueled by the growing and ever popular televisions programs over the past 10 years, the family eventually came to the conclusion that starting a society of their own was the way to go.
While the Purdy Family is always on the go, they always make time for their ghost hunting. They schedule their family vacations to visit and investigate well known haunted locations. Sites in Virginia City, Utah, California and  New Mexico have been just a few of the destinations of choice for their investigations. Elite Vegas Paranormal has been contracted to investigate one of Las Vegas’ well known hotel and casinos, and if you know Las Vegas, that’s not something that happens every day! Elite Vegas Paranormal prides themselves on the fact that everything they do for their clients, is absolutely free of charge! That’s right, they don’t get paid to investigate! They believe that if you pay a person to do an investigation, they had better find something, even if there is nothing to find.
Since it’s beginnings in 2008, the society has grown in membership, to include people from all over the country. While the team has a core group of members that actually go on investigations, they always except new members that have a fascination with the paranormal.  The team is dedicated to the education and support of the people they serve. Sometimes, Investigations take weeks, even months to get answers, and sometimes, there are no answers to be found. That’s where the education and support come in, they make sure that the client understands what is happening, why it may be happening, and what is the solution, if any. Sometimes the answers are not so simple. The situation may require a specialist, someone that deals in that particular field. It is our job to contact a specialist that will transition into the needs of the family seamlessly, and with little disruption of the investigation as possible.
There is no doubt, that the field of paranormal investigation is not going away any time soon, and that as long as there are people that require assistance with paranormal activity, unexplained anomalies in their everyday life, Elite Vegas Paranormal Society is always there to help.
CFM News spoke with Brian Purdy to find out more about the Paracon:
CFM:What prompted you to want to put on the Paracon?
Brian Purdy: We have attended several Paracons all over the Southwest, and found them fun and exciting. After the last one in October of 2011, Linda and I spent our trip home brainstorming about how cool it would be to have one in Las Vegas. After all, it’s Las Vegas, home to some of the largest conventions in the world. At the end of our trip, we had committed to bringing our own Paracon to life! While we understand that the 2012 Las Vegas Paracon will be on a somewhat smaller scale at first, we believe that on day it will rival those “higher end” conventions found on the Strip!
CFM: What kinds of things do you think the attendees will most enjoy about the event?
BP:

We feel that we will be the first to implement the “Mixer Meet n’ Greet portion to the event. While other Paracons have a period of time where attendees can interact with the Celebrity Investigators, everyone is usually getting ready for a night investigation, and time is limited. We are offering a four hour Mixer, that will allow our Paracon Guests to mingle for several hours with other teams as well as the Celebrity Investigators. Enjoy great food and drinks along side some of their favorite Celebrity Investigators, all the while, not worried about getting ready for a night investigation.
Guests can enjoy the western charm of a true desert treasure, Bonnie Springs Ranch. While you can sit in as Ben Hansen(“Fact or Faked:Paranormal Files”), and others share their experiences of the paranormal, you’ll also be able to explore the rustic western town of Bonnie Springs Ranch. Take cover during a western shootout, enjoy the Melodrama in the old saloon, or witness a hanging on main street.
If you haven’t had the opportunity to ghost hunt with a professional investigator, now is your chance! Each of our Guests will be lead by a Celebrity Investigator, as they are shown the ropes by some of televisions best known ghost hunters. Learn their secrets, techniques and tricks of the trade, as they try to make contact with the past.
CFM:  How can people get involved as an attendee or a vendor?
BP: Tickets are available at TicketLeap.com, and tables are available for those that wish to be a vendor for the event. Tables are $100 +$25 per person for the rest of the event. Tickets are $100 per person for the event, + $20 per person for the Night Investigation of Bonnie Springs Ranch with the Celebrity Investigators!
The 2012 Las Vegas Paracon is shaping up to be a one-of-a-kind, cant-miss event!  Stay tuned to CFM News in the coming months as we profile some of the attendees and events that you can expect at the 2012 Las Vegas Paracon!

Please note: I know less than nothing about Manga, J-Pop or Anime. The artwork fascinates me.

From ComiPa’s Deviant Art profile:

Favourite cartoon character: Mahoro, Kururu, Kaskube-san, Anemone, Lanka, Aisaka Taiga
Personal Quote: Watashi no Uta o Kike~!!! Flat Chests are a symbol of status~!, Hayaku Hayaku~! Nu-thing is coming~!

FYI: Manga – the Japanese word for “comics” and consists of cartoons and comic books. Manga has a very rich history you can read here.
J-pop (Jpop) – Japanese pop culture. Also refers to Japanese pop music.
Anime – Japanese movie and television animation, often having a science fiction theme and sometimes including violent or explicitly sexual material.

1. Can you define Manga and Jpop as it relates to your work?

Manga would basically mean Comic whether it was made in the western or eastern part of the globe. Jpop… hmmm…. Really don’t know how to explain it… but songs are very inspirational and gets me to work most of the time.

2. What medium do you use?
ie water color, Photoshop, scan, photograph

I use the Digital Medium now a days since it’s much more efficient and convenient. As for the programs I use… It’s usually Mangastudio EX 4.0 since I mostly do linework. Though at times I use Illuststudio for coloring and Photoshop for effects and editing.

3. How long have you been an artist?

I’ve been an artist since I was little and became professionally involved for about 10 or so year now.

4. Tell us about your first attempts to be creative.

It’s like learning how to walk… you fall and fail but strive to be able to stand up and walk a path you’d want to dedicate yourself to.

5. Do you make a living with your art?

Yes I do make a living with my art. It’s practically almost the same as other jobs… you start small and walk your way up.

6. How many hours a day do you create?

On average I work for about 6 – 8 hours and go past it if there’s a tight deadline.

7. How did you pick your creative medium?

I was trying to find a way to be more efficient and at the same time convenient for me.

8. What is your favorite art book.

None really… I just look at things that catches my eye.

9. Which Is Your Favorite Art Related Website?

Deviantart.com, Pixiv.net, Tumblr… if it’s considered as one…

10. What do you wish you could do?

Fly… I was aiming to be an astronaut or fighter pilot before. Second one would be a race car driver.

11. What are your artistic goals?

Publish my very own graphic novel.

12. What has been your most exciting moment as an artist?

To hold and smell your freshly printed work. You can’t get the scent of freshly printed paper off your mind for days.

Megan Helix Ver by ComiPa

Megan Helix Ver by ComiPa the work has such a sharp level of clarity that it amazes me.

13. What do you watch/listen while you are creating?

Well it really depends on the theme of what I’m creating… if it’s something flashy or action based, I usually go with rock and upbeat songs. If it’s something music related I try to find a song which fits it. Sad songs for dramatic themes… Though most of the time I loop a single song just to have noise in the background.

14. Tell us about your Deviant art name.

I’ve been using the name ComiPa for a long time it just got stuck to me.

This beautiful piece of art , Elle, was posted on Facebook. It was signed by ComiPa and so beautiful I felt compelled to find the artist.

This beautiful piece of art , Elle, was posted on Facebook. It was signed by ComiPa and so beautiful I felt compelled to find the artist.

15. I found you when I came across “Elle 2100” how big is the original and how long does it take to create a piece like that?

The Original is 15751 x 11626 pixels at 1200 DPI. It usually takes me a day or two to create something though it’s usually faster if I have my assistants work on parts of the piece.

16. You have “Had this Design for my OC for a while” what does OC stnd for?

OC stands for Original Character.

17. Why isn’t your work signed?

Most of my work is signed though the pieces that I think are the best ones I did… are hidden from sight.

Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as The Ponds.

Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as The Ponds.

Fans were NOT about to let their favorite couple leave the air waves without a fight. Bowing to fan pressure BBC123 and Steven Moffats have announced a TV sitcom featuring Karen Gillan (Amy Pond-Williams ) and Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams). The show will follow Amy as the spokeswoman for the perfume she and Rory developed, Petrichor.

The cast and crew are working hard to get the first few episodes ready for the soon to be announced air date.  American fans may be left out! Rumor has it that “Amy & Rory: The Ponds” won’t be seen on this side of the pond. We can only hope that non-UK Whovians will be able to get to see the new show.

Moffats has promised that Rory will NOT die in this episode. The show will be fun and uplifting with the viewers sharing the inside joke that The Ponds are time travelers.

Is the another baby in future for The Ponds?
That is a closely guarded secret. Fans will be thrilled if the rumors are true that Amy & Rory have another “Time Head” baby on the way. Like Tabatha, on Bewitched, their baby would have unexplained powers that could prove to be the heart of the sitcom.

There has been no mention of Alex Kingston or Matt Smith making guest appearances on the show.  We can only hope.

The amazing idea for the show is the brain child of .

Wish for the show  and say three times.

We are all waiting impatiently for  the long stretch until Doctor  Who returns with series 7.  We not  get our yearly dose of Doctor Who until much later in 2012. Considering the shows that are being completed now will probably be part of the Doctor Who Anniversary bash, there’s lots of reasons to start getting excited now. Things are in the early stages but it gives us something to obsess about.

As production starts up, the rumors continue to swirl around Miranda Hart as a possible companion for The Doctor . She is the star of her own comedy show Miranda on BBC 1. Hart has been rumored to having turned down previous offers to appear on Doctor Who. Soon she will be making her serious drama debut in the BBC series “Call The Midwife” Even with her commitment to the new show she said to be considering working on upcoming episodes of series 7 of Doctor Who.

There is no proof at this point. Nothing has been confirmed by the BBC or by Steven Moffat, Matt Smith or anyone. Like most Doctor Who rumors it just wait and see while we search for scraps of information.

Many of us will search her photo trying to find something we can like. Amy and Rory are going to be a tough act to follow. We love our Ponds and it may difficult to like anyone that takes their place. As Whovians we have to remember The Doctor has to move on and when his heart is broken ours will be broken too.

“A previously unreleased song by The Doors, “She Smells So Nice,” has been posted online, more than 40 years after the death of frontman Jim Morrison.

The track, which features vocals by the late singer, is included in the 2-CD 40th anniversary edition of the iconic rock band’s album “L.A. Woman,” which hits stores on January 24.

The original record was the last album the group recorded with Morrison. He died at age 27 from a suspected heroin overdose in July 1971, more than two months after the release of “L.A. Woman,” the band’s sixth studio album, which also contains the hit single “Riders on the Storm.””

The Celestial Toymaker

The Celestial Toymaker

The Celestial Toymaker” is an episode of Doctor Who from the William Hartnell era, and most of the original footage is lost. Gary Zimmer sums up the significance of this early episode of Doctor Who very well: “`The Celestial Toymaker‘ was unlike any previous Doctor Who story. Until then stories had been in either of two very broad categories, historical or science fiction. In a bold departure from this formula the Doctor and his companions find themselves in the realm of the Celestial Toymaker. This is the first time we see the Doctor encounter an enigmatic and immortal being in a place outside of space and time.”

The Toymaker is a lot like a deity of the sort encountered in many religious systems: immortal, whimsical, amoral or at least seemingly above notions of right and wrong, able to command the power to create worlds, and manipulating lesser beings as puppets and playthings.

Going back to school after the year end holidays can be quite a drag, but if you have a Little Doctor in your house who loves all things Dr. Who, then you will be able to add a little bit of incentive to return to the bullying grounds during recess – with the 4″ Doctor Who Talking Plush Backpack Charms that will retail for $9.99 a pop. Whenever you give these little critters a tight squeeze, they will ensure there is a reaction in the form of Dr. Who sound effects. You can choose from Dalek, Cyberman, and TARDIS designs.

Perfect for hanging from your backpack, laptop bag, or purse, each charm will have its individual sound effects. For instance, the red or blue Dalek will say, “Exterminate! Exterminate!” and “You would make a good Daaaaalek!”, while Cyberman chirps out, “Upgrading is compulsory” and “You will become like us or you will be deleted.”, with TARDIS being the favorite of many, saying stuff like “Vworp! Vworp! Vworp!” while lighting up. Guaranteed to be hilarious each time, and it certainly takes away the boredom from the class.

The TARDIS arrives in London in November 1963, where the Seventh Doctor and Ace discover that two rival factions of Daleks – one loyal to the Dalek Emperor and one to the Dalek Supreme – are seeking the Hand of Omega, a powerful Time Lord device that the first Doctor hid there during an earlier sojourn on Earth. The Daleks are focusing their search around Coal Hill School – the school that the Doctor’s grand-daughter Susan attended – while a human military unit led by Group Captain Gilmore is attempting to resist their incursions. The Imperial Daleks eventually capture the device. The Dalek Emperor is revealed to be Davros, now with only the last vestiges of his humanoid form remaining. The Doctor begs him not to use the Hand but is ignored. However, this is just the final ruse in a complex trap laid by the Doctor. Karen Gillan, Doctor Who's Amy Pond. The girl who waited.

We knew it would end. We knew it would be painful. We couldn’t help ourselves, we fell in love with The Girl Who Waited. Going on without her is too painful to imagine. Amy and Rory will live on and our little Whovian hearts will cry a little when we watch reruns.

The girl who waited is leaving us. On Saturday’s (Jan. 7th) “The Graham Norton Show” on BBC America, Gillan speaks out about her departure from the beloved series.

“I have known for ages that I am leaving,” she said. “It’s such a massive relief that it is out and I can speak freely about it. I’m back next year for a few episodes but it’s not actually confirmed when I go.” When she was asked if she knows how she’ll be written out and if Amy Pond could die, she said, “I don’t know, it could be possible.”

If she or Rory dies it will cause and emotional meltdown for people like me.

To paraphrase the omnipotent Leonard Nimoy, nothing in science fiction is real and it doesn’t have to be forever.

Someday we will sit our grandchildren down and tell them about the wonderful journey we took with Amy, Rory, River and The Doctor and it will still break our heart.

The Doctor: River you know my name, you whispered my name in my ear. There’s only one reason I would ever tell anyone my name. There’s only one time I could. River Song: Hush now. Spoilers.

“Everybody knows that everybody dies and nobody knows it like the Doctor.

But I do think that all the skies of all the worlds might just turn dark if he ever for one moment, accepts it.

Everybody knows that everybody dies. But not every day. Not today.

Some days are special. Some days are so, so blessed.

Some days, nobody dies at all.

Now and then, every once in a very long while, every day in a million days, when the wind stands fair, and the Doctor comes to call… everybody lives.”

Noel Clarke

Doctor Who former cast member Noel Clarke, Mickey Smith, boyfriend of the Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s companion Rose Tyler, has gotten a role in Paramount Pictures’ much anticipated Star Trek sequel, Variety reports. It is a J.J. Abrams film, the important points of the deal are being kept close, but Clarke’s character is basically described as “a family man with a wife and young daughter.”

Clarke joins returning cast members Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Anton Yelchin, and newcomers Alice Eve and Peter Weller. Edgar Ramirez is considered to be a favorite to tackle the film’s leading villain, instead of Benicio del Toro, who withdrew from discussions early last month.
The 36-year-old Clarke is probably best known for his role Mickey Smith, ex boyfriend of the Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s companion Rose Tyler, on the hit sci-fi program Doctor Who. He has also starred in the British comedy-drama Auf Wiedersehen, Pet, authored and co-starred in the 2006 drama Kidulthood. Nole Clark directed its 2008 sequel Adulthood.
Written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof, the Star Trek sequel opens May 17, 2013.
