The high velocity wind was kicking up a veritable sandstorm in Death Valley California on Saturday, March 31st. This was an appropriate way to start off the first annual Desert Paracon at the notoriously haunted Amargosa Hotel and Opera House. Red Rock Paranormal Society put on the event, which brought paranormal experts and enthusiasts from California, Nevada and beyond together to discuss all things paranormal. Guests were treated to a day of speakers, tours of the property, dinner, a silent auction and an overnight paranormal investigation.
The Amargosa Hotel and Opera House is on of the most recognizable paranormal hot spots in the world. Visitors from around the globe visit Death Valley just to stop and visit the Amargosa. The hotel and opera house have also been featured on the popular Travel Channel show “Ghost Adventures”.
Radio personalities Michael and Lindsay Knight of the #1 rated paranormal show on KDWN, “The Paranormal & Beyond”, (http://knightsparanormalresearchsociety.com/The_Paranormal___Beyond.html) were taping live at the event and hosted a trivia quiz in which the winner was given a real time digital recorder.
Members of the Red Rock Paranormal Society presented a great panel and shared some of the evidence that they have caught on the many paranormal investigations they have done for their show “Ghosts, Guests & Greyhound” (http://paranormaltvnetwork.com/3gteam.html) which airs Thursdays on the Paranormal TV Network.
Other special guests included You Tube sensation Dakota Laden whose spoofs of “Ghost Adventures” (You Tube: shortfilmzz123) have made him an internet celebrity and earned him a guest spot on the show, premiered his newest “Ghost Adventures” spoof and took questions and answers from the crowd.
Para-Celebrity Artist Christian Gabriel (http://www.christiangabrielart.com) brought a display of his artwork to share with attendees and donated some great items to the silent auction which benefit Safe Nest (http://www.safenest.org/), which provides shelter and counseling to victims of domestic violence.
The first annual Desert Paracon was a great success! Keep checking back with CFM for information on next year’s event!
