Sean Astin’s website banner says it all.

Sean Astin is an American producer, director, voice actor, and film actor who is known for his roles in “Rudy,” “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and “The Goonies.” He has already received numerous awards such as the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2003. Aside from being an accomplished actor, Astin has also started a global movement called Run3rd in January 2012.

 [hana-code-insert name=’LikeArticle’ /]

Astin believes that long distance running is one of the most rewarding activities that individuals can do. He himself has been long distance running for years now. Through Run3rd, Astin has encouraged and inspired people to participate in long distance running and dedicate their runs to the hopes, aspirations, causes, and dreams of others.

Run3rd, which began as an inspirational campaign in Twitter, serves as an invitation to various individuals regardless of their gender, age, beliefs, background, and faith. The essence of the dedication is to share a piece of one’s self to others. Astin notes that there are 3 key dynamics when individuals ask for dedications. For one, the person who asks someone to make a dedication knows how to acknowledge the importance of valuing other people.

With the use of the hashtag #run3rd, numerous individuals have already made personal and special dedications to their loved ones. Astin states that he has been humbled and inspired by the dedications about loss and pain.

Due to the popularity of the hashtag, it is already embedded in various things such as runner’s shirts, hats, and pins. Some individuals even wrote the hashtag in their legs or arms. Astin considers this hashtag as a symbol of hope, selfish pride, and care for others.

Since the inception of the Run3rd movement in 2012, Astin has already participated in various running races and marathons including Race to Wrigley in Chicago, Illinois on April 14, Laguna Hills Memorial Day Half Marathon in California on May 28, and the Apple Valley Fall Festival Reverse Triathlon in California on September 22.

Sean Astin: Interview 5 Questions On Running

For 2013, Astin will be attending several events where he will be participating in running races, making appearances, and promoting movie releases. These events include the Pasadena Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Pasadena, California on February 17, the Disney Princess Half Marathon in Orlando, Florida on February 24, and the LA Marathon in Los Angeles, California on May 17.

When running for a cause, Astin makes sure that he carries the symbol of Run3rd with him. He also encourages other people to wear something that has the #run3rd logo in them such as bags, shoes, and hats. This way, they can accept the dedications of other people.

The Run3rd movement gives another meaning to long distance running. Aside from participating in marathon just for the sake of running, individuals such as Astin can dedicate their runs for certain causes. These causes may include cancer awareness or any types of abuse. Dedications can also be about positivity and good humor. Astin asserts that the movement has given him vitality while on training. It also has given him a new way to connect with his family, loved ones, fellow runners, and to the public as a whole.

Former “Ghost Hunters” Team Member and Current TAPS West Coast Team Member Ashley Troub will be a special guest at the upcoming 2013 Las Vegas Paracon which will be held August 23-25th at Binion’s Gambling Hall in downtown Las Vegas.

People might recognize Ashley from her time on “Ghost Hunters”, but we wanted to give you more information on another of the 2013 Las Vegas Paracon’s special guests.

Ashley Troub of California was born into a life of traveling. At a young age, she moved from location to location where she would find a passion for the paranormal.
From the start, she knew two things would happen in her life: She’d become a makeup artist, and she’d become a paranormal investigator. Luckily for her, she successfully ventured into both in her teens.
Her first break into the paranormal world was in Ventura, California. There, her best friend introduced her to a local team that skyrocketed her passion and love for the world of investigating. She spent the next few years working closely with the team while learning and traveling around the southern California area, looking for new places to explore and learn from.
During the day when she wasn’t hunting ghosts and running around in the dark, Ashley would serve coffee and do makeup for film and print.
In 2012, Ashley was offered a position to join the TAPS team on Ghost Hunters as an investigator in training. She traveled with the team absorbing any and all information that she could.
Ashley now spends most of her time working with the TAPS West Coast team to train and continue her education in the field, as well as spending her days on makeup when she can.

The 2013 Las Vegas Paracon might not be happening until August of this year, but organizers are working hard to make sure attendees have the best possible experience and the biggest bang for their buck.  New parties, events, and guests are being added weekly and the newest Paraceleb in attendance will be former “Ghost Hunters” star Brian Harnois.

Brian Joseph Harnois is a paranormal investigator and is one of the original cast members of Syfy Channel’s Ghost Hunters and Ghost Hunters International.   His body of work extends over the past 20 years, which includes a PBS special called “Haunted RI”, as well as the documentary series “A Haunting on Hamilton Street” (featuring Steve “Prozak” Shippy) shot on location in Saginaw, Michigan.
Brian has been on countless television and radio interviews about the paranormal, and has also appeared on the covers of TAPS Paramagazine and Haunted Times Magazine. He was also featured in an article on Brian’s paranormal investigations span over the past two decades, leading him all over the world on at least 700 investigations (and growing).
Born and raised in Woonsocket, RI, Brian currently resides in Coventry, RI and has two wonderful daughters, Kenzie and Kylie. Brian launched his own paranormal investigation company called B Ware Productions in March of 2009. His “Dude, Run! Tour 2013” kicks off on May 3, where he will be traveling the globe doing public and private investigations while making special appearances and offering his expertise via lectures. A book detailing his life and paranormal experiences is currently in the works. He is grateful for his loyal fan base, and believes in connecting with each and every one of them. His official website is slated to be launched in late winter 2013.

Whatever you think you know about taxidermy be prepared to change your mind. Whether taxidermy makes you think of Bambi’s mom and dad hanging on a wall watching you with that creepy blank stare or the Wikipedia definition “Taxidermy is the art of preparing, stuffing, and mounting the skins of animals (especially vertebrates) for display (e.g. as hunting trophies) or for other sources of study.” it doesn’t apply to “Immortalized”.

AMC’s new show “Immortalized” incorporates art into the mix challenging viewers and participants to look at taxidermy a whole new way.

“Immortalized” which Thursdays at 10pm EST/9pm CST on AMC is an unscripted competition between the top taxidermists. I watched “Immortalized: End of the World” (Pre-Air Premiere) Season 1, Episode 2 online. Like any good competition “Immortialized” starts with trash-talking rivals who had “butted heads” before in taxidermy competitions. Their job is to work the night’s theme which was The End of The World into their piece.

The cardinal rule is “no endangered species.” The show follows the competitors back to their studios as they make their exhibit. Don’t be worried, you won’t see the death of any animals. If you are like me, you have never seen a taxidermist work. You will be surprised at the artistic ability needed to put a piece together. The artist sculpts a base of the animal that is very complex and realistic. What you think would be gross and kind of icky, isn’t at all. It is like any other art competition. The judges are looking for more than just predator and prey but what the piece says metaphorically about the night’s theme.

The show pulled me in so deeply into the competition that I went to full screen to see the final pieces. The piece that lost was beautiful and one of the most dynamic pieces of art I have seen. I thought it would win even though it wasn’t big enough or complex enough to represent the End of the World. The winner did an amazing job. The show is entertaining and informative. I really enjoyed the episode and I even forgave the host for saying, “Put your money where your mount is.”

AMC’s unscripted series brings viewers into the captivating and provocative world of creative and competitive taxidermy. Immortalized explores the passionate detail and artistic expression that goes into creating this compelling art. Each episode will feature one of four highly regarded “Immortalizers” facing off against a “Challenger” in a competition. Their task is to create a piece to be judged on three criteria; originality, craftsmanship and interpretation of the designated theme. Whether the artists are known for their classic or rogue creations, each week they will work to perfect this centuries-old art form in an unprecedented battle.

“The Nerdist” returns on BBCA on March 30th.

BBC America has commissioned a full season of “The Nerdist” with Chris Hardwick. Chris Hardwick is a professional stand-up comedian, “Doctor Who” fan, web pundit and self-proclaimed nerd, and was named one of Time magazine’s “140 most influential people on Twitter.” He writes for WIRED magazine, contributes to “Attack of the Show,” makes regular appearances on “Chelsea Lately,” “The Soup,” and “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.” He is also the face of AMC’s first live after show “Talking Dead,” which airs as a platform to discuss the network’s highly rated show, “The Walking Dead.”

General Manager Perry Simon ordered a full season of “The Nerdist,” a comedy-variety talk show based on comedian, writer, “Doctor Who” evangelist and web pundit Chris Hardwick’s hit “Nerdist” Podcast. The season will premiere in Spring 2013 as part of the channel’s signature “Supernatural Saturday” programming block, also home to “Doctor Who,” “Being Human” and new original series “Orphan Black.” Along with “The Nerdist” series, Chris Hardwick will be fronting the entire “Supernatural Saturday” programming block in the Spring.

“The Nerdist” will continue to be produced by Nerdist Industries and Comcast Entertainment Studios, with Chris Hardwick, Alex Murray, Jay James, Gary Snegaroff and K.P. Anderson serving as executive producers.

The series pick-up follows a collection of specials pegged to pop culture events throughout 2012. Matt Mira and Jonah Ray, Chris’s partners in the Nerdist Podcast, will return as contributors. “The Nerdist” series will be shot in Los Angeles on a brand-new set and will feature celebrity guests, UK and US-based correspondents as well as stand-up and musical performances.

Chris Hardwick says: “As a huge fanboy of nerd culture stuff, we at the Nerdist Podcast gush about the things we love constantly, and the fact that BBCA lets us do that AS OUR JOBS puts me forever in their debt. They have been exceptional at allowing us to grow the show and its audience. Plus, I’ve met THREE Doctors since I started working there. Perry Simon doesn’t know this yet, but I’m going to hug him REALLY HARD next time I see him-until it gets awkward. Six extra seconds oughta do it.”

The Nerdist Podcast, named one of the best comedy podcasts by Rolling Stone, is a top 10 comedy podcast on iTunes and has featured guests from Tom Hanks and Baratunde Thurston to Tina Fey and Matt Smith to Judd Apatow.

Mindy McCready,

Mindy McCready,

The Cleburne Alabama County Sheriff’s Office issued the following press release about the death of Mindy McCready:

At 3:31 PM, Sunday, February 17th Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs.

Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37 year old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence at 1132 Fox Chase.

Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound.

At this time family members have been notified of the incident.

Ms. McCready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated.

Mindy McCready, the talented country singer  with hits the  “Guys Do It All the Time” and “Ten Thousand Angels,” was found dead at  her Arkansas home.

Her death comes a month after McCready’s 34-year-old  boyfriend, David Wilson, also died from a gunshot wound. Wilson’s death is being looked into, but McCready had denied playing any part in his death. “Oh my God, no,” she told NBC’s Andrea Canning on Today in January. “He was my life. We were each others’ life.”

After Wilson passed away, McCready spoke about her difficulty dealing with  losing him.  She was also in a child custody battle involving her two sons, 6-year-old Zander and 9-month old Zayne,  who had been taken from McCready. She told ABC News in January  she had never dealt with  anything as “painful” as Wilson’s death. “He didn’t just touch my heart, he touched my soul,” she said regarding Wilson, who was Zayne’s father. “He was my soul mate.”

David Morrissey as the one-eyed Governor.

David Morrissey as the one-eyed Governor.

In the interest of full disclosure, I only watched this show to see David Morrissey. He is gorgeous and I fell madly in love with him when he was “The Doctor”. He starred alongside David Tennant as The Next Doctor. If not for Morrissey, it never would have occurred to me to watch “The Walking Dead”.

“The Walking Dead” came back from the mid-season break with “The Suicide King”. The episode crawled into  the second half of Season 3 of the TV series.

The action slowed way down in “The Suicide King”.  The cliffhanger promised to keep the pace of the fall show going when “The Walking Dead” returned.  It didn’t. There was some action and the  occasional walker attack but they spent a lot of time standing around talking.  I didn’t expect “The Suicide King” to bore me to death.  Watching people gazing meaningfully into nothingness was starting to make me feel like a zombie.

Inside the Walking Dead: Season 3 Zombie Studio Tour with Greg Nicotero [HD]

This is where the series picked up: Merle (Michael Rooker)  and Daryl (Norman Reedus)  have been reunited after Rick’s assault on Woodbury. It wasn’t looking good for the two brothers when we left.  Their raid on Woodbury hadn’t gone the way they planed. The Governor (David Morrissey) now missing an eye, a zombie daughter and pissed off had dragged them to the Zombie fighting pit. They were expected to fight to the death.

  • Fortunately, Rick (Andrew Lincoln)  and Maggie (Lauren Cohan)  return, possibly to eliminate Haley.  Daryl and Merle take advantage of the subsequent chaos  to  getaway.  The Governor is wild and creepy.
  • The Governor forcing the brothers to fight to the death tends to make it a little more difficult to think Merle might be covertly working for the Governor, as some fans have talked about.

Eric Goldman at  made a humorous and true observation, “I have to point out the horrible performances by the extras in “The Suicide King, week, whose lackluster, clearly not really all that amped up cheering/yelling during the Rick/Merle gladiator scene was very (unintentionally) funny, especially since the ADR’d in enthusiastic yelling didn’t match at all.”

  • Rescuing Merle Dixon really set things into motion.  It was interesting to see how the writers play it out.
  • Glenns (Steven Yuen) has  turn out to be increasingly powerful actor  as The Walking Dead has continued.

  • I didn’t understand why Michonne (Danai Gurira), didn’t respond to  Rick’s question, “Do you know Andrea?”  Even people who accept that show is going to deviate from the comic book have to admit Michonne and Andrea are difficult to accept. We don’t feel empathy for them and they are far away from the comic characters we like to root for.

Chris Kirk at IMed with Future Tense blogger Jason Bittel and summed it up very well,  “I have no doubt this post-apocalyptic world would cause unthinkable emotional and mental stress, but in my opinion, the show doesn’t need it. You have so many sources for good, natural drama and yet they keep going back to the tactic used by daytime soaps something happens to thwart sensible communication and everybody has to run around screaming for a few episodes until they can sit down and talk it out. It’s perpetually Act 3 of a rom-com.”

  • There will only be eight more  zombie attacks then the season finale.  It is the eternal unrest of  a Walking Dead fan, waiting for the next taste of brains. See what I did there?

Toni Braxton’s revealing 2001 Grammy outfit is part of’s slide show “The Most Daring (and Risky!) Grammy Fashion of All Time”.

Grammy Awards broadcaster CBS ‘ yearly ‘wardrobe advisory’ notice (dare ?) has been issued ahead of Sunday’s show hoping to encourage flesh-flashing stars and celebrities to cover up. Anticipating some weird wardrobe decisions of some attendees they have spelled out in the memo below exactly what should be covered.

“Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples.” This sentence alone will leave some celebs with nothing to wear. While others will feel they have been personally challenged by CBS to break as many of rules their outfit can break.

Grammy award winning songs.

“Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure.” The absolute best response to this wardrobe suggestion is from Belinda White  at the Telegraph, “Ewww. Might we suggest that anyone who needs to be reminded not to display their ‘puffy bare’ genital region, probably shouldn’t have made the guest list in the first place?”

CBS also requested the presenters, performers and attendees steer clear of name-brand product logos and plugs on their t-shirts as well as obscene words. The policy which requires foreign language on clothes be approved before the show is aired, is from CBS Program Practices, not the Grammy organization. “We have absolutely nothing to do with that memo or the rules and regulations the FCC provides to the broadcast networks,” Recording Academy President/CEO Neil Portnow told MTV News

Thong type costumes are problematic.
Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack.
Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic.
Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples.
Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible “puffy” bare skin exposure. Please avoid commercial identification of actual brand name products on T-shirts.
Foreign language on wardrobe will need to be cleared.
This as well, pertains to audience members that appear on camera.
Finally, The Network requests that any organized cause visibly spelled out on talent’s wardrobe be avoided. This would include lapel pins or any other form of accessory.

Jason is an Investigator as well as a Researcher for the “Haunted Collector” team. Jason spent most of his life in Colorado and Idaho. There, he developed a love for adventure and the outdoors. This love led him to develop many interests and talents such as back country skiing, motocross, backpacking and fishing. Also, being raised in a very creative environment, Jason spent a majority of his time playing the drums in various bands, teaching himself to play the guitar, and later studying acting. He developed an interest in the paranormal at a very young age. Investigating local legends, he would try to discover how much truth there was behind these stories. It was not until he had a very strong personal experience that his interest changed from curiosity, to a need to know the truth. It was at this point that Jason joined the California-based paranormal group, Paranormal EXP. This group focused on trying to find scientific evidence to either support or refute the existence of spirits. Now part of John Zaffis’s team, he is excited to learn from John, as well as help people in need. Jason believes that there is something out there, yet approaches every investigation as a skeptic hoping to be surprised.

Scott Wolf is set to be a major recurring guest-star this season on TNT’s Perception, starring Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Eric McCormack. Wolf is best known for his roles on the television series Party of Five, V and Everwood.

In Perception, Wolf will play Donnie, a charismatic, fast-rising Assistant U.S. Attorney recently transferred back to Chicago. Donnie is less concerned with doing what’s right than with what’s right for Donnie. He’s a blue-collar, Irish-Catholic kid from the south side who loves the White Sox. While Donnie claims his transfer back to Chicago was completely random, he has a hidden agenda involving Kate (Rachael Leigh Cook), his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Perception, which comes to TNT from ABC Studios, stars Eric McCormack as Dr. Daniel Pierce, an eccentric neuroscientist and university professor with a unique way of seeing the world. Pierce is called upon by his former student – FBI agent Kate Moretti, played by Rachael Leigh Cook (She’s All That) – to help the federal government solve complex criminal cases. Perception, which also stars Arjay Smith (The Day After Tomorrow), LeVar Burton (Roots) and Kelly Rowan (The O.C.), is about to start production on its second season, which premieres in summer 2013.

Previously announced sponsors for the 2013 TCM Classic Film Festival include Verizon, the official lead partner; Citi, the official card of the festival; Vanity Fair, a festival partner and co-presenter of the opening-night after party; and Bonhams, a festival partner that will provide film-related exhibit items, conduct an on-site valuation session for passholders and co-present a slate of British films as part of the festival lineup.
About the 2013 TCM Classic Film Festival

The TCM Classic Film Festival launched in spring 2010 and has established itself as a destination event. Each year, the festival welcomes 25,000 movie fans from around the globe to enjoy more than a hundred screenings and events.

This year’s TCM Classic Film Festival will take place Thursday, April 25 – Sunday, April 28. After opening with a gala presentation of the brand new restoration of the musical classic Funny Girl (1968), the festival will feature appearances by Jane Fonda, whose hand and footprints will be enshrined in cement in front of TCL Chinese Theatre prior to a screening of On Golden Pond (1981); Tippi Hedren at a 50th anniversary screening of the Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds (1963); and documentary filmmaker Albert Maysles at a tribute to his extraordinary career, including presentations of his films Gimme Shelter (1970) and Salesman (1968). The festival lineup will also celebrate Bugs Bunny’s 75th Birthday, with a collection of shorts curated and presented by Leonard Maltin and Jerry Beck. And silent film composer Carl Davis will be on hand to conduct his score for the classic It (1927). Among the many restorations set to premiere at the festival are The Big Parade (1925), The General (1926), Giant (1956) and The Great Escape (1963), Badlands (1973) and Scarecrow (1973), along with many more.

TCM host and film historian Robert Osborne serves as official host of the 2013 TCM Classic Film Festival, with TCM’s Ben Mankiewicz also introducing films and events during the festival. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which has a longstanding role in movie history and was the site of the first Oscars® ceremony, will once again serve as the official hotel for the festival, as well as a central gathering point for attendees. Screenings and events will also be held at TCL Chinese Theatre, the Chinese 6 Theatres and the Egyptian Theatre. The Hollywood Roosevelt will also offer special rates for festival attendees.

Cinematic Journeys: Travel in the Movies, the theme for the 2013 TCM Classic Film Festival, will explore how movies can carry viewers beyond their hometowns to distant or imaginary locales, where they can be transformed by great storytelling. Often, the mode of travel provides the filmic inspiration, whether it’s planes, trains, or automobiles. At other times, the trip itself serves as the central narrative, as in the case of many “road movies.” With Hollywood as the starting point, TCM’s cinematic excursion will take festival attendees on a fascinating journey to worlds both familiar and new.

If you want to support Sam this is a great way to do it! 100% of profits go to Machine Gun Preacher Sam Childers and you get some great tunes in return. If we can get this album to chart it will sell itself and make a real difference to Sam’s mission.

Alex, like so many of you, saw the MGP movie and wanted to assist in any way he could.

“After watching MGP, I was genuinely touched and wanted to find out more about this incredible man, Sam Childers. I wanted to put something back and help his fight to save the children in Africa so I produced the album with the hope of raising thousands of dollars for the charity.”

Alex, a music industry producer and talent developer, knew immediately which acts to include:

“The acts on this Album all gave up their rights to the tunes with a view to helping Sam and the charity and the tunes (of varying genres) are of a very high standard – ANYONE who likes music will LOVE this album!”

You can check out the album here.
