Elementary – Another Bully Is Used Instead of A Descent Script

Elementary is supposed to be a modern day Sherlock Holmes. Other than the name the show has nothing in common with the detective created by author and physician Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Lesser Evils a repeat episode aired on 3/30/2013

Doyle was an excellent writer. The writers of “Elementary” are not. They are using the same technique as “House” and a few other shows. Rather than write a good storyline they make the character a hateful bully as way to move the story along.  Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) is a recovering addict which is supposed to make his behavior OK.

There is no skill or intelligence level that makes it OK to treat people the way he does.

Lesser Evils convoluted storyline had no surprises.

Jonny Lee Miller’s acting is so over the top this week it ridiculous.  He is nearly hyperventilating trying to impress us with his less than stellar lines he is given. Terrible, terrible acting.  I expect him to start foaming at the mouth and literally start chewing on some of the scenery.

Dr. Watson’s story line should have provided some depth to her character but it didn’t it. It superficial and predictably to the point of being tiresome. I watch it as a fan of Lucy Liu but her character Dr. Watson seems to have a lobotomy at times. Watson is a well-educated woman who for some reason I can’t fathom is staying with a man who has no respect for her.

Why it was renewed is beyond me.
