DAVE MASON & JOHN DEBNEY TO RECEIVE OUTSTANDING CAREER ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS AT THE 2009 HOLLYWOOD MUSIC IN MEDIA AWARDS AND MIMI CONFERENCE

(HMMA), the most anticipated and innovative music awards event of the year, will honor legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Dave Mason and Oscar nominated film composer John Debney with Outstanding Career Achievement honors.  

 

Academy Award nominated John Debney will be honored during the HMMA event on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at The Highlands located in the world-famous Hollywood & Highlands / Kodak Theater complex in Hollywood, California. Debney, considered one of the most sought after composers in Hollywood, and who has established himself as a formidable film composer across a wide range of genres, has worked repeatedly with several noted directors, including Garry Marshall on The Princess Diaries, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and Raising Helen; Robert Rodriguez on Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams, Sin City and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D; Jon Favreau on Elf and Zathura; and Tom Shadyac on Liar Liar, Dragonfly and Bruce Almighty. Debney displayed his ability in the dramatic genre with the film The Passion of the Christ, which earned him an Oscar nomination.

Additional film score credits include Spiderman 2, Spiderman 3, The Ant Bully, Chicken Little, Meet Dave, Swing Vote, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor and Hannah Montana: The Movie. Current film projects include A Thousand Words, Old Dogs, and Sin City 2 & 3, and one of the most anticipated films of 2010, Iron Man 2. John Debney composer, conductor, musician and valued collaborator will be the first to receive the Hollywood Music In Media Awards’ Outstanding Career Achievement for Film Composing.

Legendary guitarist and songwriter, Dave Mason will receive his Outstanding Career Achievement honor during the HMMA produced Music In Media Interactive Conference (MIMICON) on Saturday, November 21, 2009. The award will be presented during the MIMICON keynote address luncheon, taking place in the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel ballroom.

 

 

 

Dave Mason has enjoyed a career that has spanned over 37 years, performing to sold-out audiences with memorable bands Traffic and Fleetwood Mac, as well as recording with some of music’s legendary icons, including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and the Rolling Stones. He has penned and recorded enduring gold and platinum songs, including “Feeling Alright”, “Let It Flow” and his smash-hit single, “We Just Disagree”. In 2004 Dave Mason and the band Traffic received one of the highest honors that can be bestowed to a music artist when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Mason is touring in support of his current LP titled 24 Letters ~ 12 Notes through the summer and fall of 2009.

 

Mason has gone beyond being heard in music, by becoming an influential figure and advocate for the foundation Working Vessels for Vets. His dedication to raising awareness and funding through his shows, and his work in the media, will continue to have an impact on our heroes returning from foreign conflicts.
