Over 250 fans of the popular Travel Channel show “Ghost Adventures” turned out at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas last night for a special event featuring the stars of the show.  Zak Bagans, Nick Groff and Aaron Goodwin were on hand to do a meet and greet and take photos with fans for the museum’s “After Dark” event.

Some fans waited in line for hours for the opportunity to meet their faves.  After the meet and greet, attendees were given the opportunity to tour the wax museum’s haunted attraction “After Dark”.

The guys were in good spirits and really took time with each fan to give out a hug or an autograph and the love for the fans that they have really came across at this event.

Beyond what you see on the show, all three of the guys have side projects which show off their other talents. CFM Entertainment News got to spend a few minutes chatting with the Ghost Adventures Crew about some of their upcoming gigs and why this event with the fans was so important to them.

Nick Groff

Nick Groff has a clothing line – Phantom Collections – as well as a music cd on the way.  We asked him to tell us a bit about his line. “My clothing line, Phantom Collections, just launched it yesterday with Modus Collection.” says Groff  “I am really excited about it because every piece of the line actually has a symbolic image from my life.  So that’s why I created the shirts and sweatshirts, because it resembles some effect that it actually had on me.”

The Phantom Collections line, in conjunction with Modus Collection Clothing, is onsale now and you can check out their website at http://www.moduscollectionclothing.com/phantomcollection/.

Aaron Goodwin

Aaron Goodwin who has a website where he sells his clothing line “Big Steppin” as well as artwork and photography, has started a really nice project for charity on his site.  “I am selling “Big Steppin” ornaments and half of the proceeds go to Kids Without Toys.  So in the middle of December I am going to have hopefully a ton of toys and will drop them off at a local Nevada radio station who will match it so really it’s all of the proceeds going to charity.”

If you want to help out with charity and pick up some great items at the same time, check out Aaron’s website at http://agoodwincollections.com/.

Zak Bagans

“Ghost Adventures” lead investigator Zak Bagans is a busy guy.  In addition to “Ghost Adventures”, Zak recently produced and hosted the popular show “Paranormal Challenge”, became a New York Times Bestselling Author with his book “Dark World” (available at your local Barnes and Noble store or on Amazon.com) and has a clothing line that he has had in the works for some time. “I have been going through designers one after the other.” says Bagans. “You have a vision in your head and these designers,  they keep pumping out stuff that looks like Affliction clothes.  I am trying to get away from that.  It’s a work in progress.  It will be out someday, but not in the immediate future.”

For more updates on Zak’s clothing line or any of his other projects, check out http://zakbagans.com/.

Last night’s event was all about the fans.  Why was this event so important for the Ghost Adventures Crew to be a part of? “We love our fans” says Nick Groff ” we’re from Vegas and people love Vegas.”  “I just love this location.” says Zak Bagans “When we investigated here we found some really shocking evidence.”

Their love for their fans certainly showed and the fans truly appreciated them being there.  New episodes of “Ghost Adventures” are now airing on Friday nights on the Travel Channel.  Check your local listings for times.

Torchwood: Miracle Day

TORCHWOOD’S executive producer has admitted that the future of the show is not certain.

Julie Gardner says “time will tell” if the Doctor Who spin-off starring John Barrowman will return.

She said: “I don’t know if there will be more or not.”

“It… has been across so many different channels and so many international audiences, across so many different story structures, and so many numbers of episodes,” she explained. “There’s no single way forward for the show.”

The most recent series Torchwood: Miracle Day was a summer hit with around 5million viewers.

Mark Sheppard,Doctor who

“To emerge that Canton is in fact one of the friends that the Doctor deemed should be present at his death eludes to perhaps some further involvement…”

“But fantasy and sci-fi and the idea of stories and imagination has always been people’s thing. It’s just how willing you are to admit it and how willing you are to dress-up as a result of it. And I think the people who dress up and show their allegiance and their fandom and passion are incredibly brave… And truly exceptional as a group. You never see ‘Gang of sci-fi fans rob 7-11’ in the news do you?”

Mark Sheppard might be known for playing the bad guy, but he doesn’t actually believe in the fight between Good vs. Evil on screen.

Even an early morning cold shower because of the Maui gas pipeline leak couldn’t put him in too much of a bad mood.

“There’s no such thing as a villain. I’ve played people with contrasting or different positions on the moral compass, shall we say. Or people who are willing to do things that other people are not willing to do,” he says.

Sheppard played a demon on Charmed, was Badger in the short-lived, but now cult-classic, Firefly and featured in two seasons of Battlestar Galactica.

He is also the fan favourite Crowley on TV2 series Supernatural.

And recently, Sheppard has appeared in the sixth series of Doctor Who – with his dad, fellow actor W. Morgan Sheppard.

A month has passed since it was controversially announced that Doctor Who Confidential had been axed by the BBC.

Shortly after, the Save Confidential Campaign was launched along with a petition to try and get the decision reversed. In that time, it has has gathered 52,000 signatures.

The campaign has seen strong support from Doctor Who Magazine, the Radio Times and the Doctor Who production team. Steven Moffat went on record to say it was a “Bad decision“.

Today marks “Save Doctor Who Confidential Day” and a count will be taken at midnight and sent to BBC Trust. If you haven’t done so already, show your support by taking a moment to sign it..

Note: the petition will still remain open after midnight, so you can still sign it after this time.

Billie Piper with her husband Laurence Fox are "delighted' to announce that a baby is on the way.

The former Doctor Who star is pregnant again, the Daily Mail reports.

Actress Billie Piper is expecting her second child — and a play she’s about to star in has been judiciously rewritten to accommodate her pregnancy.

Billie, who is married to actor Laurence Fox, is 15 weeks pregnant. She is due to perform the first preview of Neil LaBute’s play Reasons To Be Pretty at the Almeida Theatre on November 10, with an official first night on November 17.

Michael Attenborough, the Almeida’s artistic chief, who is also directing the  production, said the actress was visibly  distressed after the first night of My City — the Almeida’s current production.

Elisabeth Sladen

Audio tapes of interviews from Benjamin Cook a former writer for Radio Times, Doctor Who Magazine, TV Times and The Telegraph shared this and more on his website.

The new, 100-page issue of Doctor Who Magazine is out today, and celebrates the life of Elisabeth Sladen, who died earlier this year. Among those tributes from friends, family and colleagues are my interviews with Doctors Tom Baker, David Tennant, and Matt Smith. Here are some exclusive audio clips from those interviews:

Tom Baker (DWM 440)
WARNING: This clip contains strong language and adult humour.

David Tennant (DWM 440)

Matt Smith (DWM 440)

This issue also features Lis’ final magazine interview, which I conducted last year, originally for Radio Times, but only 10% was ever published… until now. DWM presents this interview in full, for the first time. Asked how she feels when Sarah Jane tops polls of the greatest companion ever, Lis said:

“I can’t take that seriously. You have to look at the time I was in the show, and the Doctors I was paired with. That’s not me being bashful You can have the most wonderful Romeo and the most wonderful Juliet, but if they don’t come together and match, you’ve got nothing. You’ve got to believe it. If you can make people believe, you’ve won.”

The following narrative is from actress Penny Gibbs (Cedar Rapids, Transformers: Dark of the Moon)  about her experience during the filming of Irvine Welsh‘s Ecstasy. PS. Don’t worry, Penny has returned to speaking normally and was able to walk on her own after hugging Billy. She is expected to recover fully.

Irvine Welsh’s “Ecstasy” Starring Billy Boyd

Ecstasy” is the incredible new film by award winning director, Rob Heydon and it is based on the book written by Irvine Welsh, the author of Trainspotting.  I was not only lucky enough to get an extra part on the film, but was also permitted to interview one of the stars, Billy Boyd from Lord of the Rings!

I was actually considering not going because of the bad weather we were having and December in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan can be pretty scary!  But after I heard that Billy agreed to allow me to interview him for my web site, Basically Billy Boyd, I knew I had to get up there somehow.

I checked into extras holding and we sit for a few hours in a holding area with lots of hot coffee and snacks and pretty soon we are called in.  I was in the last group of the 100 or so extras there to be placed and I thought I might be at the back of the church where we were filming our scene, but I ended up in the 3rd row.

Penny Sees Billy Boyd  *think theme from 2001 A Space Odessy*

I had been told a week or so earlier that Billy was not in my scene so I wasn’t even looking for him.  But after a while and shooting several times, I heard the people behind me talking about the front row having 3 movie stars in it, so I take a better look and lo and behold, there is the unmistakable back of Billy Boyd’s cute little head!!  He is wearing a smart black suit.

After shooting a bit more, there is a slight lull while they change camera directions and Billy happened to look behind himself and spots me.  He smiles a huge smile, waves and gets up to come back to my pew to see me.  I start crawling over the people next to me to get to him and I get rewarded with a lovely hug and peck on the cheek.  He tells me he knew I was going to be there and says we can do the interview after lunch, which would be fairly soon.

Penny meets up with Billy during the filming of Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy.

So after a few more takes, we break for lunch.  I’m back at the holding area waiting because cast and crew always eat first, then the extras get their food last of all.  I see Billy getting his food (sushi, as he told me he does not eat meat, just fish), and wearing a huge blue parka and a cute knit beanie now.   He sees me and walks over to me.  We chat for a while and he tells me that he knew that Elaine (my co-admin of Basically Billy Boyd) and my friend and fellow Honeybee (what fans of Beecake are called) Sandi were at Sunshine on Leith in England and he was waiting to see them as well, but he never found them.  He told me he had 2 Sunshine on Leith programs signed by the entire cast for me!  One was signed to me and the other one to auction for Jacks Tree Fund, a charity Elaine and I set up for his son, Jack, after he was born!   He asked for my address, so I gave him my card and he said he will mail them to me when he gets home.

Then he insisted I eat too so I got some chili and he told me I can’t eat chili without crackers, so I added some crackers to it.  Then he also got me a coffee!  <3

Rob Heydon director Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy.

Rob Heydon director Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy.

Later, he introduced me to Rob Heydon, the director who was very nice.  I had been in contact with Rob over the years regarding “Ecstasy”, but had never met him before.  Billy talked to a of couple people and we set up for the interview in the green room, which unbeknownst to me, was where we were filming in the other building.  So I start to lug my huge and heavy suitcase down towards some stairs and outside because it had my camera in it and I wasn’t thinking to just take my camera out of it (DOH) and Billy said, I’ll take that for you!    And he schlepped my suitcase all the way for me!!  <3

We have only 10 minutes for the interview but it went really well!  Billy Boyd of course is a pro and I was an interview virgin.  He made it so easy and fun, he even handled the introduction and closing for me!!  Sadly, due to having to get back to set, I didn’t have time to ask most of my questions.  I wanted to make the interview fun and interesting for him and wanted to ask him questions he hasn’t been asked a million times before.  I had a few True and False questions, a speed round of other questions and so many things I wanted to ask him!   I swear I never get enough time with that man!   I’ll save the questions and hopefully I will get another go at him soon!

I think at one point he tried to distract me and mess me up when he started describing himself wearing a “really tight t-shirt” in Kill The Old, Torture The Young, a play he did and started to flex and yes, I started to drift off to that happy visual knowing how much I admire his lovely chest, but somehow found the strength to snap out of it and continue.

Penny Gibbs Interview “Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon” Cast Interview: Running From Robots – Minor Spoilers

After the interview, we hugged again, I got a quick pic taken with him and we headed back to set.  I impressed the other extras around me with my crying ability as we were asked to be very emotional for the eulogy done beautifully by Scottish actor, Adam Sinclair. So I may be seen crying sitting a couple rows behind Billy in the film!  I realized that I have been a mourner in 5 films now!  I think I have been typecast!

One of the extras I met told me that a couple of her male friends who are football players had to tackle Billy yesterday in a scene!   Billy confirmed that with me as well!

When our scene is over and filmed in every possible direction, all the extras are thanked and released and Billy needed to leave to change for the next scene.  I am asked along with 4 others to stay and do another little scene, which I think you will see me pretty well.  I am taking communion from the minister who is actor Colin Mocrie from “Whose Line is it Anyway”, “The Drew Cary Show” and tons of other things.

But before Billy left, he came to say goodbye and I had him sign my ‘funeral program’ for me, more hugs and kisses and as he hugged me goodbye, he asked me to “please drive safely”

All in all, it was such a lovely experience, the cast and crew were professional and so friendly and I completely enjoyed myself!  Thank you to all who helped me!!!

On our way home, the Canadian border guard was very interested in my reason for being in Canada after I inadvertently tried to bribe him with 3 American dollars!   He asked me all about the movie, Billy, the BBB and asked me if I was someone famous!

Billy Boyd is every wonderful thing you have ever heard about him and more!  Sweet, kind, sexy, funny, immensely talented and such a wonderful, gentle, good man and I am always so impressed with him.

I was invited by Rob to a special screening during TIFF and I got to finally see “Ecstasy“.  Its always scary seeing a film you are excited to see, hoping you wont be let down, hoping one of the actors didn’t suck, hoping it doesn’t look lame.  I can tell you this was such great film, incredibly acted by all actors, and beautifully shot by Rob.  I was blown away!  My communion scene was cut, but Rob focused on me for a few moments in the funeral scene!  I not only was IN a movie with Billy Boyd, but in the same scene and frame!!!

Penny and Billy Boyd Party Like Rock Stars

I also attended  the after parties and got to spend some time with Billy again.

We see Rob and a few of the E people standing outside the club and there was a long line of people waiting to get in.  Rob is let in and we all follow.  But then Rob is called back and we blindly follow everyone to the rooftop where a really lovely party was.  It was such a beautiful night, stars, full moon, FREE BOOZE!  As Laura, Jason and I found a nice corner booth we started to notice, that we didn’t recognize anyone!  It turns out we were at the wrong party!!  But it was so nice up there and I doubted Billy would be up this late anyway, so we hung around a bit.  Eventually we slunk down the stairs and looked for the E group.  I found them all in a corner of the lower level.  No sign of Billy, but Rob and star, Adam Sinclair were there along with the other E folks!

So we hang around, my feet hurt and Ive had a few drinks and the 2 hours sleep I had is started to affect me, because I swear I see Billy Boyd making a beeline for us.  Bless his heart, it was him!  He comes right over to us and at last we have him all to ourselves!!   He hugs and kisses us both again and I was shocked to hear his poor voice!!  He was totally losing his voice, he sounded so horse.  And then I tell him we had pizza for dinner and asked him what he had and he tells me he hasn’t eaten yet!  I think he needs someone to look after him!  Someone to make sure he eats and takes care of him.  Yes, I volunteer!

My happy moment was standing next to him and I don’t even remember what we were talking about and he says “Finally someone who understands me!!!!!)  and he grabs me, wraps his arms around me and hugs me!  *dies*

Of course, I cannot think of all the things I want to ask him, but did manage to ask about his son, Jack (he started school last week and seems to really enjoy it!) No new projects in the works, just working on that album.  He said they are working on the last 2 songs and they want to do a better tour.  Not sure what he meant because I thought the East Coast tour in ’09 was incredible!  Im hoping for the mid west tour this time!    He just got in the day before and was still jet lagged, isn’t seeing Dom because Dom’s movie screens on the 15th and that’s when he’s leaving, he hasn’t seen Viggo, and isn’t going to see any TIFF films because he doesn’t have the time.  I was too brain dead to ask what he was so busy doing.   I did tell him I was in 2 films playing there and he seemed happy for me.

Eventually someone came over and tells him that Rob is looking for him.  He stays with us a few more minutes and then leaves, more hugs and kisses thank you very much!

All in all I was again reinforced why I love this man so much and work so hard for him.  He’s one of the sweetest, kindest, funniest, and talented (and handsome men) I have ever met.

Ecstasy will be screened at St John International Womans Film Fest in Canada, Thursday, Oct 20th!  You can see more info at  the site HERE.

Empire Magazine's gathering of the four hobbits themselves: Elijah Wood (Frodo), Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Pippin) and Dominic Monaghan (Merry). It was so momentous it called for its own trailer.

Empire Magazine's gathering of the four hobbits themselves: Elijah Wood (Frodo), Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Pippin) and Dominic Monaghan (Merry) was so momentous it called for its own trailer.

It’s ten years on since four little hobbits set off from the Shire on an epic quest that spanned Middle Earth and took in vast battles, demonic monsters, wizardry, Orcs and, ultimately, enough Oscars to fill the Lonely Mountain. It’s ten years that have seen the rise and fall and rise again of two-part prequel The Hobbit, now firmly in production in Wellington, offering moviegoers an imminent return to Middle Earth.

Obviously this all called for a big celebration so a celebration is what Empire is having. The new issue is more bursting with revelry and nostalgia than a Friday night at the Prancing Pony. There’s tall tales – well, tallish tales – memories; behind-the-scenes pics from Aragorn himself, Viggo Mortensen; Oscar night reflections from Ian McKellen, Peter Jackson and Mortensen; and rarely-seen concept art.

Best of all, though, is a gathering of the four hobbits themselves: Elijah Wood (Frodo), Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Pippin) and Dominic Monaghan (Merry). It was so momentous it called for its own trailer – and here it is for your perusal pleasure. Sadly the Nazgûl got stuck in LA traffic.

Pick up a copy of Empire‘s December issue this Thursday for the full birthday celebration.

Adding to the powerful good vibrations of Aftershock–Madison Rose‘s (www.madisonroserocks.com) debut album—is the runaway success of the 17-year old rocker’s video for her debut single Teenage Runaway.”

The poignant power ballad earned the young singer/songwriter a 2011 Hollywood Music In Media Award (HMMA) nomination for Best Pop Song. The HMMA show takes place on November 17 at The Highlands at the world-famous Kodak Theater Complex in Hollywood, Calif. and recognizes the music of visual mediums, the talented individuals responsible for it, and the music of both mainstream and independent artists from around the globe.

The compelling clip for “Teenage Runaway,” which was posted in mid-August, already has already racked up over 75,000 views on YouTube and counting—and has a whopping 1,200 “likes.”

The song was co-penned by Madison, her brother and musical partner “Justyn The Stuntman” and famed rock guitarist Gary Hoey—who also co-produced Aftershock with Madison.

Matt Smith has created a stir with this quote from his interview. He seems to be saying he is leaving at the end of next season.

During an interview with VH1, Smith was asked if he’d like to come work in America. And he said:

Well, hopefully soon, you know. I’ve got another year of Doctor Who, but then I’m certainly going to come and give it a shot – come and hang out in LA.

He seems to be saying he is leaving the show. Hopefully he means that he will be coming to America during his Doctor Who filming down time. Watch the video and decide for yourself.

Actor Zachary Quinto and Director J.C. Chandor participate in Livestream press conference to discuss upcoming film “MARGAIN CALL”, which opens on Friday.

Article by Suzanne Philips, Photo copyright Roadside Attractions

Actor Zachary Quinto’s latest film venture, the first for him as a producer opens this Friday. The synopsis of the film is as follows: Investment-firm analyst Peter Sullivan (Zachary Quinto) uncovers sensitive information that could easily plunge the entire business into peril, inadvertently destroying the lives and careers of his colleagues in this tense thriller set during the onset of the 2008 financial crisis. Over the course of the next 24 hours, Sullivan realizes that the decisions he makes will not only affect the employees of the firm, but the lives of everyday Americans from coast to coast as well.  The film, which is written and directed by J.C. Chandor boasts a stellar cast which includes Paul Bettany, Simon Baker, Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, Penn Badgley,Demi Moore, Stanley Tucci….and the list goes on.

Quinto and Chandor participated in a Livestream Q&A session to discuss the project.

Do you think that the film opening on a week when Occupy Walstreet is all over the news helps your marketing efforts?

J.C Chandor: I’m not sure. We’ll have to see. It’s certainly rewarding – it takes many years to make a film. I started writing about 3 years ago today. To be able to introduce a film into that environment is very rewarding. Whether it will help from a box office standpoint, we will have to wait and see. We wanted to give the viewer an entertaining look into this field. Hopefully it will give the viewer a greater understanding of who we’re protesting against.

Did you have a specific article or incident that inspired you to create this film?

J.C Chandor: No, there were several incidents that came together throughout late 2006, into 2007 and then into 2008. It wasn’t only one article. We were trying to make a somewhat universal bank in the film – so it was representative of many banks. That also goes for many of the characters. None of them were based on one particular person.

Zachary Quinto, J.C. Chandor

Zachary, why did you pick this film as your first feature film as a producer?

Zachary Quinto: I started a production company three years ago and I thought the script was fantastic.

Zachary, to prepare for your role in the film, I heard you spent a few weeks shadowing a few Wall Street workers at Citibank. Were they initially skeptical or hesitant to allow you to do that?

Zachary Quinto: The Citibank workers were really supportive and really available. They were able to help myself and the other actors.

What would you tell a person the reason to see Margin Call?

J.C Chandor: I would say a reason to see Margin Call is hopefully it entertains you for an hour and a half. We tried to make a compelling drama. The second thing is we tried to do is give the viewer insight into a world they are not normally privy. A world not normally available to them.

Margin Call is one of several films recently being released on VOD; what are your thoughts on the importance of a film such as this reaching as much of the American population as possible?

J.C Chandor: I’m very excited to see where this experiment ends up. No one quite knows in this current market/environment what the best way is to distribute the film. But we are getting a 60/70 city release theatrically. For a small budget film, that is a very exciting release. To add to that, most major markets and many smaller markets can view the film on VOD. That’s exciting to get the film out to the widest audience. I always believe the best experience is in a theater, but I also have 2 small children and know going to the movies can be a complicated and expensive endeavor so it’s nice to know this film is going to get it’s widest audience possible.

Check out “MARGAIN CALL” when it opens in theatres on Friday, October 21st and visit the website at http://margincallmovie.com/

* “…along with Fringe, it’s the best sci-fi on television” – New York Post, Steven Lynch
