SAM WINCHESTER (Jared Padeleki) Sam is the intellectual between the brothers, the ‘good boy’ whose subdued nature doesn’t attract as much attention as his intensely motivated brother. Sam speaks several ancient languages and exorcizes demons from memory. He acts as Dean’s conscious and while he’s Dean’s backup, Sam tries to remain independent (though that doesn’t always work for him, either). Because Sam is cursed, he is often the target of the supernatural and things in the dark-a fact that complicates their lives. But as far as Dean’s concerned, they’re brothers and for him, that’s everything.
