New Nerdist series opens the curtains on the cult comedy phenomenon
The star-studded live show and podcast Thrilling Adventure Hour has a treat for their devoted fans – Nerdist premieres an in-depth behind the scenes series today onNerdist.com.

The Thrilling Adventure Hour, the staged production in the style of old-time radio, has brought together some of the biggest names in comedy since launching their monthly sold-out show at Los Angeles’ Largo at the Coronet in 2005. In the new series, viewers will go behind the scenes of the production and hear from creators and writers Ben Acker and Ben Blacker, as well as regulars Paul F Tompkins, Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), and Busy Phillips (Cougar Town).  Guest stars Nathan Fillion, Molly Quinn, Clark Gregg and Joshua Malina are also featured in the series, which will run over five episodes.

Co-creator Ben Acker says, “For the first time ever, we welcome you behind the curtain at The Thrilling Adventure Hour where the real show kind of is!”

The new web series is funded by a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign that raised nearly $200,000 from fans and also spawned an acclaimed graphic novel now in its 3rd printing.

With its special blend of adventure and comedy, The Thrilling Adventure Hour follows the serial adventures of outer space lawman Sparks Nevada, Marshal on Mars, the hard-drinking private eyes Frank & Sadie Doyle of Beyond Belief and more. Formatted like the ‘old-timey’ radio shows of the ’40’s and ’50’s, each production combines musical numbers, fictional ads and a wide cast of recurring characters. Due to popular demand the live show has gone on the road, playing to packed houses in Manhattan, Brooklyn, San Diego, Chicago, Seattle, and San Francisco.
