Earlier this year, Steve Richard’s infectious song “Stomp” became an anthem for the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), rocking the house across the country and on the air as wrestlers entered the ring.
Now, the charismatic country-rock singer/songwriter (www.steverichardmusic.com), who is joining genre superstar Craig Morgan on the road for six dates in July and August, has a new, loftier stomping ground—PowerSource’s Christian Country Top 100 Chart, where his latest single “Make It Into Heaven” takes a quantum 21-slot leap into the Top 5.
The track placed at #24 in June and is #3 on the July chart, just behind hits by Tracy Lawrence and Kathy Joy Bell and ahead of Del Way, Tommy Brandt and Phil Vassar.
Richard is set to open shows for Morgan starting at the Crawford Country Fair in Cuba, Missouri on July 18 and wrapping at the Capitol Arts Theatre in Bowling Green, Kentucky on August 27.
On June 19, Richard shot a video for “Stomp” in Watertown, just outside of Nashville. The clip’s director, Roman White of Revolution Pictures, has done videos for numerous country superstars, including Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift.
“Stomp,” one of the tracks from Richard’s 2008 self-titled debut album, was written and produced by John Rich of the superstar duo Big & Rich.
Richard’s dynamic stage presence and trademark gritty vocals reflect years of paying dues, and he enters the fray with a scorching track record as a seasoned vet on the road. At one point performing 100 club dates a year, Richard has also toured the Midwest and South as both a headliner and opening act for Lynyrd Skynyrd, Dickey Betts, .38 Special, Junior Brown, Halfway to Hazard, Montgomery Gentry and Van Zant.
In the summer of 2008, he toured with rising country band Whiskey Falls.
In crafting his multi-faceted self-titled debut album, Richard also worked with producer/engineer Michael Bradford (Kid Rock, Uncle Kracker, Travis Tritt) and Grammy Award winning composer Jeff Silbar (Alabama, Janie Fricke, Bette Midler).
Radio station programmers around the country are as excited as the fans about Richard.
Roger McCoy of WYBL-FM in Ashtabula, Ohio says, “Steve Richard put an electrifying energy into STOMP that has our listeners hitting the dance floor at our local Honky Tonk and I am sure in their living rooms and kitchens when they have 98.3 The BULL on! Get your listeners movin’ and out of their seats with STOMP!”
D T Brown of WMIX, Mount Vernon, Illinois adds, “We had Steve in the studio, he was a lot of fun to talk to and he rocked the listeners with STOMP! People were trying to call in all morning to win CDs! It was a great radio visit!”
And Dr. Dave Young of KDKD, Clinton, Missouri says, “I have nothing but good things to say about Steve Richard and his visit to KDKD! We are playing STOMP every day during the morning show, midday and afternoon drive. He’s really got some fans in this area and Steve is always welcome at KDKD!”
