Azita Ghanizada Alphas’ Rachel Pirzad “synesthete”, which allows her to enhance one sense while rendering her remaining senses temporarily useless.

“Alphas”

The easiest way to describe “Alphas” is “XMen Light”.  Don’t misinterpret my X-Men reference as saying it is even close to being as good as X-Men. The word “mutant” is conspicuously absent and when I wandered into “Rosetta Stone” I found the story confusing.

The only reason I watch “Alphas” was because it was on after “Warehouse 13” and Ryan Cartwright (Vincent Nigel-Murray, Bones) pulled me into the episode. He plays Gary Bell  an “autistic, very socially awkward alpha who is able to read any and all waves in the electromagnetic field. This includes television broadcasts, radio signals, and phone texts.” It took reading the info on the website and watching  the episode a second time to understand it.

When I say I didn’t understand and had to watch it again I don’t mean in that wonderful  “that was soo complex I have to watch it again” kinda way. “Alphas” is sci-fi fluff. It’s interesting but isn’t going to tax your brain. You can watch “Alphas” while you play on FB without losing track of the storyline.

The last episode “Never Let Me Go” was an OK episode, fairly good story line and kept my attention up to a point. Azita Ghanizada, alpha Rachel Pirzad, did an excellent job falling into the clutches of an alpha mom with a broken heart.

Spoilers….I am channeling River Song.

In “Never Let Me Go” the alphas go to a town to find out why people are dying from an mysterious illness. It is an good plot not taxing on the brain but entertaining, right up to the point where Gary Bell shows up. I appreciate that they want to realistically portray autism but his role was distracting. It is like when there is a sex scene for no apparent reason. Gary’s over the top actions just made you wonder, “Why?”. Gary in the high school was when FB came into the picture. The character was obviously autistic in “Rosetta Stone” but not as distracting/annoying like he was in this episode.

Watch it.  It is pleasant. It has potential.

This is the explanation of the show from the SyFy “Alphaswebsite.

Alphas is an action-packed thriller from writers Zak Penn (The Avengers, X-Men: The Last Stand) and Michael Karnow. In the series, five ordinary people are brought together to form one extraordinary team of Alphas — people with the unique power to stretch the capabilities of the human mind giving them superhuman physical and mental abilities.

Operating within the Defense Criminal Investigation Service of the U.S. Department of Defense and led by preeminent neurologist and psychiatrist Dr. Lee Rosen (Emmy Award-winner and Academy Award-nominee David Strathairn), an expert in Alpha phenomena, the team investigates cases that point to others with Alpha abilities. As they work against the clock to solve this new brand of crime, they must prevent their own personality differences and disparate backgrounds from interfering with their ultimate mission to catch the enemy.

In addition to Academy Award nominee David Strathairn (Temple Grandin, Good Night, and Good Luck), the ensemble cast stars Malik Yoba (New York Undercover, Why Did I Get Married?), Warren Christie (October Road), Laura Mennell (Watchmen), Ryan Cartwright (Mad Men, Bones) and Azita Ghanizada (Castle).

Yep, that trailer’s a bit strange (as you’ll see): But that’s only because the great people over at Doctor Who TV took that itsy-bitsy, teeny-weeny short bit of Doctor Who that was part of a new, longer “Original British Drama” trailer from the BBC, and then proceeded to slow it down so we could see those awesome Doctor Who scenes better.

This was an unheard of moment. A guest left fast talking Stephen Colbert speechless, more than once. To off set the homosexual theme Colbert employed a heterosexual accountability buddy. That fell a little flat.  Overall one of the top Colbert Reports.

When Colbert asked Savage if he had committed adultery his response, “Is it adultery if I am committing it at one end of a guy and he is committing it at the other end of that same guy?”  Savage sent Colbert running to his heterosexual accountability buddy.

The Beak shown here at a Beads of Courage event appears to have a smoother more youthful beak.
Celebrity spokesduck Aflac “The Beak” Duck shown here at a Beads of Courage event appears to have a smoother more youthful looking beak.

Author’s note: I did inquire about the possible collagen rumor but have received no response.

Following in the footsteps of Jersey Shores Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino the AFLAC duck has taken to referring to himself  as “The Beak”. Best known for his work as spokesduck for AFLAC, a company named one of the best 100 companies to work for, “The Beak” has come under scrutiny for what appears to be a changed beak.

“The Beak” carefully deflected questions from reporters about possible cosmetic procedures he may have had done recently. Each question was answered by talking about one of his favorite subjects Beads of Courage Beads of Courage is a program “providing innovative, arts-in-medicine supportive care programs for children coping with serious illness, their families and the health care providers who care for them.” Ducks throughout history have been known for the work they do to help children and AFLAC was quick to support “The Beak’s” interest in Beads of Courage.

Jean Baruch, developed the first Beads of Courage, Inc. program while working on her PhD in Nursing at the University of Arizona, College of Nursing. Her inspiration came from her clinical practice, and from her experiences as a camp nurse at one of Paul Newman’s Hole in the Wall Gang Camps. With the financial support of her family and friends, Jean developed and piloted the Beads of Courage Program at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in February 2004.

Go to AFLAC’s Beads of Courage page where you can support a child for only $5.00! Each seriously ill child will receive a Wingman Bead and the Encouragement Book.

“Your donation will remind a child that they are never flying solo, and that they have people standing beside them in their fight for life.”

AFLAC’s Wingman Bead was fashioned using  “The Beak” as their model.

This is an excellent band and vocalist. This is one group I am happy to put up. It doesn’t suck.

Sometimes I get videos emailed to me and oh do they suck ass. I am convinced you have to be a tad masochistic to deal with music. Some of the music I receive is pure crap. It is a dilemma. Do I put the video up and pretend someone somewhere must like the band, do I hurt the artist’s feelings by being honest, pretend the email never arrived or change my email address? I have slowly been transitioning away from music but this video got my attention.

These guys don’t suck.

Transfomers 3 dark of the moon interview

Transformers 3:Dark of the Moon The Autobots learn of a Cybertronian spacecraft hidden on the Moon, and race against the Decepticons to reach it and learn its secrets, which could turn the tide in the Transformers' final battle.

Ok, one tiny spoiler. In Transformers 3: Dark Side of  The Moon you will see the MOST gratuitous ass shot ever put into a non porn movie.  It goes on and on for no apparent reason. Michael Bay dick’s just can’t seem to understand that we are there for the robots. The ass shot is just as pointless and stupid as the shot of Megan Fox practically humping that motorcycle.

The storyline for Transformers 3: Dark Side of  The Moon is the best so far.  It is well written and Shia LaBeou is amazing. The movie has parts that made me laugh and parts that made me cry. When we were leaving I heard a woman ask, “Why do people clap and cheer in movies? The actor’s can’t hear them.”  Yes, I am one of the ones that clapped and cheered. I hope the day never comes  that I stop clapping and cheering. When I am 85  and our soldiers (101st Screaming Eagles in this case) and/or Optimus Prime shows up to save the day I will clack my false teeth if I am too weak to cheer.

Note and spoiler for Whovians. You will notice the main storyline manipulates time (The Time Wars) and is very, very similar to Doctor Who: The End of Time the last episode for Ten.

“Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon” Cast Interview: Running From Robots – Minor Spoilers

The downside of the movie.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is exquisitely beautiful but the collagen in her top lip is distracting it changes  to duck lips and back.  She runs, climbs and falls off buildings in stilettos  more of Michael Bay directing with his dick the shoes are ridiculous.

The main battle scene is again way too long and sometimes it is difficult to know who is winning and who is losing.

COMPLAINT: Two robots died that shouldn’t have. Michael Bay could have easily brought them back after the credits but he is dick wasn’t involved so he didn’t.

Transformers 3: Dark Side of  The Moon is great fun! Go see it!  If you can see it in 3D, even better.

Shortly after the Doctor visits NASA in 1969 the microbes from the moon are now said to be harmless earth bacteria. Coincidence? I don't think so.

Shortly after the Doctor visits NASA in 1969 the case of the mysterious microbes from the moon is solved. They are now harmless earth bacteria. Coincidence? I don't think so.

On Nov. 19, 1969, Apollo 12 astronauts Pete Conrad and Alan Bean landed on the lunar surface in Oceanus Procellarum, .  They retrieved the equipment that had landed there in 1967.

The device was put into a sterile bag, returned to earth and removed in a sterile room. What they found was a small colony of common bacteria — Streptococcus Mitis — INSIDE  the camera. The obvious conclusion was that the bacteria was a living organism from the moon.

Official explanation, “50 to 100 of the microbes appeared to have survived launch, the harsh vacuum of space, three years of exposure to the moon’s radiation environment, the lunar deep-freeze at an average temperature of minus 253 degrees Celsius, not to mention no access to nutrients, water or an energy source.”

After a review NASA’s archived Apollo-era 16 millimeter film – 2011 the explanation is that the equipment was contaminated in the clean room.

The Doctor or contamination? You decide.

Daily Mail reports that Matt Smith was rushed to the hospital, “after the actor fell over in his flat and split his head open”

The Doctor Who star received three stitches after the accident. He was treated and released after being taken to  the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

Smith was reportedly celebrating with his Doctor Who co-stars on Saturday night after the crew had finished shooting the second part of Series 6.

A BBC source said: ‘Matt tripped over in his flat and sustained a minor head cut. He went to A&E as a precaution. He is very, very clumsy so nobody will be surprised.’
The injury didn’t keep him down, he was spotted the next day with girlfriend Daisy Lowe enjoying the sunshine and wearing a cowboy hat. Cowboy hats are cool.

There is a copyright photo of the stitches here.

So, anyone who knows me, knows I absolutely love Politics.  Actually, I love government, but politics is a necessary evil.  I’ve campaigned with Presidential hopefuls and Members of Congress.  I’ve served as a Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the U.S. Army and as a member of the Presidents Council on Service and Civic Participation.  And now I face the toughest challenge ever in this arena, I am a Campaign Manager for Dan Adler for Congress.  We’ve been friends for 20 years and the members of California’s 36th District would be lucky to get him.  Click on the link if you want to learn more. GI Jams rocks the Cannery in Las Vegas

The GIJams.com community has grown significantly since its start, as hundreds of military artists and writers have now joined, as well as the many of the artists’ fans and supporters, giving the organization the demand to release GI Jams, Vol. 1: The Original Music Of Our Military Artists, the first in a series of compilation recordings to be issued by GI Jams Records. The CD will be released April 5 and will be available for sale online at the GI Jams Store, by direct artists’ sales, as well as at retail locations. All profits from sales of this nationally distributed compilation album go to the artists.

GI Jams, Vol. 1: The Original Music Of Our Military Artists

features 14 tracks by eight of the site’s most popular artists and bands (five still on active duty and three who are Veterans that served in Iraq, Kosovo and Vietnam). All of these artists performed live in the 2010 GI Jams’ Veterans Day Weekend Show at The Cannery Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

The artists featured are (in order of their appearance on the album): Corey Bower (Air Force Airman 1st Class ), Adrian Manuel (Army Chief Warrant Officer), Jerard Brewer (Marine LtCol), American Attitude (Air Force Master Sergeants Shawn Watchorn and Marc Meyers and Technical Sergeant Chris Henderson, and Navy Petty Officer First Class Matt Smithers), Destruction Evolution (Veteran Air Force Master Sergeant Steve Sinatra, Veteran Army Specialist Richie Ibanez and band mates Jim Littleton, Chris Peng and Donnie Nall), Vietnam Army Veteran Ric Ulsky, Dark & McDermid, (with Don Dark, Marine Vietnam Veteran who passed away while this album was being finalized, and band mate Rick McDermid) and Joe Speed Band, (Army Sergeants Jeremiah Eaton and Nathan Harvey).

The album also features two bonus “Battlefield Music Videos” filmed in Iraq between active duty missions; one by the Joe Speed Band performing “Cowboy Soldiers (Please Send Me A Beer)” and the other by Blackhawk pilot Adrian Manuel singing “Freedom” while flying in his helicopter (a ‘first ever done’ video).

Schippers says, “We know many people will want to purchase this extraordinary CD as a way to support the military and we’re excited that it’s so rich in musical talent and diverse styles, including great country, rock, pop-rock and even some wonderful inspirational songs – something for everyone, and we can all support them while enjoying their very special music.”

GI Jams Presents Veterans Day Concert in Las Vegas

Randell and Schippers, the project’s founders and co-directors, have been longtime supporters of those who serve us in the military and launched GI Jams as, “a special way to thank and give back through music, which has been such a big part of our own lives, to help and support those musically talented artists who – rather than pursuing their own musical careers – have given themselves to protecting and defending our country.”

GI Jams, Vol 1

is the latest step in their journey to give back, though the pair performed their own most recent Randell & Schippers dance and video hit “Alice In Wonderland” on the 2009 Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon in a medley with some of Denny’s classic hit songs, including “Working My Way Back To You” and “Let’s Hang On” – featured in Jersey Boys, the Tony awarded hit Broadway show, Smash Mouth’s “Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby,” “A Lover’s Concerto” and “Native New Yorker,” Denny’s home town anthem.

GI Jams has to date been highlighted in both the mainstream and military media, from Reuters, CNBC, Billboard.biz, and Celebrity Twitter—to top military publications including Military Times, Stars and Stripes and Military Spouse plus, upcoming coverage from Salute Magazine, Big Blend Radio and KJAG FM.

“It’s amazing that many of these songs were written in tents and barracks after difficult missions and many of these artists have told us that GI Jams has been an irreplaceable outlet for them while under those conditions – as is the feeling of appreciation they receive from all of us who support them.” Denny continues, “We can only imagine the kinds of stressful conditions our artists create under. And we are very excited to announce GI Jams’ release of this first compilation album to be able to present their great talent and have the privilege of sharing their musical passions with the world.”

CD Review : Foo Fighters – Wasting Light

All of rock is here. Like, really, all of it. One tries to avoid too many direct comparisons with other artists in a review but with Foo Fighters it’s impossible.

Barrowman and Pullman  promote Torchwood: Miracle Day

Barrowman and Pullman were at MIPTV to promote Torchwood: Miracle Day, the fourth season of the BBC’s sci-fi phenomenon Torchwood. Barrowman notably discussed how the series’ – and hence his – notoriety has grown from the UK to the world. “This is becoming global now, and I’m absolutely loving it!” he enthused. Pullman, for his part, explained how his role in the show fits it with his incredible career, which spans from Lost Highway to… Spaceballs! Torchwood interview Source.

The new series of Doctor Who begins soon with a two-parter that ranks as one of the show’s most mind-blowing and visually arresting adventures ever.

Details are beginning to emerge about the story and we’ve got brief details of the episodes below. We’ve kept it brief, but as River might say, ‘Spoilers!’

Episode 1: The Impossible Astronaut

Four envelopes, numbered 2, 3 and 4, each containing a date, time and map reference, unsigned, but TARDIS blue. Who sent them? And who received the missing number one? This strange summons reunites the Doctor, Amy, Rory and River Song in the middle of the Utah desert and unveils a terrible secret the Doctor’s friends must never reveal to him.

Placing his life entirely in their hands, the Doctor agrees to search for the recipient of the fourth envelope – just who is Canton Everett Delaware the Third? And what is the relevance of their only other clue: ‘Space 1969’? Their quest lands them – quite literally – in the Oval Office, where they are enlisted by President Nixon himself to assist enigmatic former-FBI agent Canton, in saving a terrified little girl from a mysterious spaceman.

Episode 2: Day of the Moon

The Doctor is locked in the perfect prison. Amy, Rory and River Song are being hunted down across America by the FBI. With the help of new friend and FBI-insider, Canton Everett Delaware the Third, our heroes are reunited to share their discoveries, if not their memories. For the world is occupied by an alien force who control humanity through post-hypnotic suggestion and no one can be trusted. Aided by President Nixon and Neil Armstrong’s foot, the Doctor must mount a revolution to drive out the enemy and rescue the missing little girl. No-one knows why they took her. Or why they have kidnapped Amy Pond…

We’ll be bringing you more about those and future episodes soon, but in the meantime you can download the latest new series image as a wallpaper. And don’t forget, you can read Steven Moffat discussing The Impossible Astronaut and beyond and watch the Prequel for the opening episode now! Source BBC
