Marthia Sides is a country crossover singer/songwriter and a classically trained opera singer. (Which makes me want to know if she yodels!)  The multi – talented performer was playful nickname “the NYC opera Singer “ while appearing on CMT’s reality competition show “Popularity Contest”.  Her training adds a delicate flavor to her songs.

Don’t expect whiny country music from Sides she has a modern sound with strong country- roots. Her voice reflects her dedication to becoming a country force to be noticed.

Marthia Sides has a fantastic website. Like or don’t like her music, either way check out marthia.com a tiny Marthia comes out sings and talks to you.

“Perfect Girl” was her first single.  The song sends a clear message, she isn’t going to put up with any more shit from this guy and is moving on! “Perfect Girl” resonated with listeners and received play on small and large radio markets.

“I’ve got it bad”. Is a beautifully executed blend of country and blues. It is my favorite track and I recommend you listen to it.

“Some Assembly Required” is a perfect song for Sides’ voice. Recording the song was a case of serendipity.  She found of the song by chance while visiting music producer Jim Vest.  Sides convinced Vest the song would be suited for her. It was a case of voice meets music!  The playful song is a high spirited song that laments the pitfalls of dating and trying to find the right guy.

“I Got Faith” continues Sides on going work to empower women through her music. The song is the story of a woman whose friends are all married with children. Women can identify with her predicament of living paycheck to paycheck. The songs sends a positive message, you aren’t a failure. You only fail when you give up or you are dead. The song is definitely a toe tapper.

In the wake of the recent Nashville flood, rising country artist Marthia Sides, who resides in Nashville and was also evacuated from her home close to the Cumberland River, and friends recently teamed up to put on a benefit concert for victims of the Nashville floods on May 12.

Held at Center Stage, the benefit raised money for Country Cares and was a success thanks to the artists who volunteered their time to perform, including Marty Raybon (former lead singer of Shenandoah); legendary country music artist Razzy Bailey; Lofton Creek Records artist Kristina Cornell; Grammy & Dove nominated contemporary Christian group DecemberRadio; Rachel Williams (former Nashville Star finalist); Thom Shepherd (hit songwriter for such songs as “Redneck Yacht Club”); Megan Linville; Clay Underwood; Vicki Raye; Kenny Olsen; Tim Akers (band leader for Rascal Flatts); Lindsey Hager; Chris Golden (son of William Lee Golden and band member of the Oak Ridge Boys); Charlotte Melody; Marc Eric; Rodeo; and Tommy York. Marthia also performed during the event.

“After speaking with friends who lost everything, I just couldn’t image starting from the ground up again. I decided to create an event and bring my love of music and my compassion for the flood victims together to help organize ‘Country Cares,’” said Sides.

  1. The time change during Ramadan is a luxury that those observing the fast in northern hemisphere regions with much longer daylight hours cannot benefit from. In addition the reality on the ground in rural towns and villages is that they do not observe the time change and everyone continues to live their lives according to the sun's rising and setting times thereby reducing any potential energy savings and introducing a two time country!A complicated few years ahead beckons….

  2. Hi! I know this is kinda off topic nevertheless I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in trading links or maybe guest writing a blog post or vice-versa? My blog addresses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I believe we could greatly benefit from each other. If you might be interested feel free to send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Wonderful blog by the way!

  3. … “Meanwhile, good luck to the citizens in the gulf. You’ll need it. You’re on your own.”As it should be. If you can’t take care of yourself when a hurricane comes, don’t fucking live in a hurricane zone. All these whiny assholes crying that fema didn’t do this or that is ridiculous. Two simple steps to avoid being a “victim”. 1. Buy insurance 2. Get the hell out when a cat 3+ is coming your way. Instead I suppose it’s easier to sit around on your fat ass and wait for the government to help.

  4. So true Sue. What makes blogs so wonderful for me is that someone else isn’t telling me what is good or not. I am free to decide for myself. I love the diversity of input across disciplines, style, and voice. If I want consistent quality as determined by others, I’ll go to the mainstream press. Even so, I do appreciate recommendations from others. I’m always interested in what my network thinks is interesting or inspiring. Nothing like collective wisdom. Guess it is a constant balancing act.

  5. I'm glad the manufacturers of the instructional doll matched the color of the onesie to the color of the valve inside the otherwise empty skull.(Baby esophagus?)Because that's not creepy at all.p.s. Achy Breaky heart is a really great song.

  6. Cisco is increasingly beginning to sound like a has-been. If Cisco were to focus on optimizing the network transport/handoff/accelerate capabilities, there might yet be a future for their wares. The latest round of redrawing the strategy fails to recognize that Cisco has veered from its core competency, the network core, and needs to bring it back into laser-focus.

  9. PB, long-time lurker here (my daughter is an ANTS student and started my PB Habit). I so often agree with you and, most often, find delicious food for thought here, but never have I seen ME right there in your words! To my amazement, I have become, over the years, that woman in the choir! So, thanks for yet another wonderful think-piece and a Big Aha! [YAY!! YAY for the transformation and YAY for unlurking! Glad to know you, Kate! – PB]

  10. goodbye to the U.N., Oslo is back to being only a capital of Norway, long overdue annexation of Judea and Samaria and return to Gaza underway, unconditional deportation of illegal invaders, decent loyal citizens are protected and left in peace, and disloyal ones are encouraged to leave … and then you actually wake up into this eerie branch of reality.

  11. scrive:Si, hai ragione.

  12. i do french kickboxing(savate).for a start it is a really cool way to train in self defense and what ive learned over the years doing it is that tall people with long arms and legs are really hard to fight against.this is because savate is best fought at long range so savate teaches you to use your reach advantage to maximum effect.it is well worth trying savate.thai boxing is overated anyway.References : third best savateur in britain 65-70kg

  13. . Your favorite reason appeared to be on the net the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people think about worries that they just do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people could take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
