The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles hosted the 2009 Spike TV “Scream” Awards tonight in Los Angeles. The show will air on Spike TV on Tuesday, October 27th at 10 pm. The “Scream” Awards honor the best in Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror and Comics.
Film, Television and Music stars were on hand to celebrate the best of the best from the last year. The new “STAR TREK” film lead the list of nominees with 17 nominations, including Best Director, Best Ensemble and Best Sci-Fi Film. Karl Urban who plays Leonard “Bones” McCoy in film was glad to be able to help celebrate the film and stopped to chat with the tons of reporters covering the event before dashing into the venue.
Television was also honored and the hit HBO vampire show “TRUE BLOOD” racked up 9 nominations. Actor Sam Trammell who plays Sam Merlotte on the show said he was “happy that the show really took off last season”. He also added that Season 3 of the popular show will begin filming in December, which should make fans very happy.
Legendary musician Keith Richards was given a special “Rock Immortal Award”. The show will feature a tribute to Richards from some of his most die-hard fans, including actor and friend Johnny Depp.
Taylor Lautner, Elijah Wood, Eli Roth, the cast of “BATTLESTAR GALLACTICA” and Hugh Jackman will also be featured during the ceremony.
