In his first new album in seventeen years, Steve Miller returns with the same sleek blues-rock sound that made his music some of the best-loved records of his generation. “Bingo!” due out June 15th, harnesses once again the trademark sound of his trilogy – “The Joker,” “Fly Like An Eagle,” “Book Of Dreams.”
“Bingo!” is being supported by a North American tour, including a very special date in Portland, Maine on Wednesday, June 2nd.
Bingo! will feature covers of such blues classics as B.B. King’s “Rock Me Baby,” Lowell Fulson’s “Tramp” and Jimmy Reed’s “You Got Me Dizzy.”
“This is a party record, man,” Miller said in a recent Billboard magazine story. “It’s about getting up and getting ready to dance. It’s like the fraternity party gigs I used to play in college. I went through and picked all my favorite tunes that I really, really loved. I wanted to make this record forever; it started off as just kind of a goof, and then it got real serious.”
Joining the Steve Miller Band is the first new member since Miller reunited his finest backup musicians of his career more than twenty years ago. Vocalist Sonny Charles, a rhythm and blues veteran and founding member of the Checkmates, is captivating on stage. His vocal presence sneaks into your soul, and watching him move to the bands groove is entertaining and worth the price of admission alone.
The live show is epic Steve Miller Band. The over 2-hour performance is the quintessential ride for Steve Miller Band fans. If you are a young amateur, garage, air, professional or even guitar hero guitar player, you leave a Steve Miller Band concert feeling like you are a little cooler for the experience. The ‘Live’ show features all the great Steve Miller Band hits like “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Rock ‘n Me,” “The Joker,” “Jet Airliner,” “Take The Money and Run,” “Swingtown, ”Jungle Love,“ “Livin’ In the U.S.A.” Additionally, New Englanders will hear songs from the new album “Bingo!” just prior to its release in mid June.
