Texas Frightmare weekend runs May 3-5th at the Hyatt Regency Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport and features celebrities from shows such as “The Walking Dead”, “Halloween”, “The Boondock Saints”, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and more.
The Hyatt Regency at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport is gearing up for the 2013 Texas Frightmare Weekend. Conceived by Loyd and Sue Cryer in 2005 as a three-day horror convention, the event takes place annually in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. True to its motto, “The Southwest’s Premier Horror Convention”, their goal is to provide fans with an unrivaled experience by celebrating all aspects of genre films. Texas Frightmare Weekend hosts celebrity appearances, autograph signings, screenings, exclusive parties and horror memorabilia vendors from all over the country. The event is also extremely proud to have featured the rising talents of many Texas “Frightmakers” in screenings, panel discussions and Q & A’s.
After humble beginnings at the tiny Grapevine Convention Center in Grapevine, TX, TFW (as it has begun to be called by attendees) is arguably the largest horror convention in the nation. The event boasts over 10,000 attendees annually and has hosted genre legends such as George A. Romero, Clive Barker, Malcom McDowell, Robert Englund, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Cary Elwes and hundreds more.
In 2012 the event moved to the Hyatt Regency inside the DFW to make room for its growing fan base. The new venue provides 93,000 square feet of event space (compared to the Grapevine Convention Center at 23,500 square feet) and 800 rooms.
This year will see celebrities including “The Walking Dead” stars John Bernthal, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Lew Temple, Nick Gomez, Vincent Ward and Norman Reedus. Reedus will also team up with Sean Patrick Flanery, his Co-star from “The Boondock Saints”. Some of the other featured celebs for the weekend will include Gary and Jake Busey, Nick Castle (Halloween), Denise Crosby (Pet Cemetary), Michael Faust (Face Off), James Hampton (Teen Wolf), Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Virginia Madsen (Dune), Patricia Quinn (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Chris Sarandon (Fright Night) and more.
There will also be screenings and panels throughout the weekend and opportunities for fans to get a photo or autograph with their favorite stars.
