Lou Ferrigno said that he liked coming to conventions because when he was growing up, there were no conventions – they didn’t exist.  Fans didn’t have a chance to meet their favorite stars and get a photo or an autograph with them.  Now, conventions give the fans the chance to be able to meet their idols.

Sean Patrick Flanery  summed up how many of the stars feel about conventions in the video below:

Jason David Frank spoke a bit about ConTv, which will allow fans to view panels and other cons that they might be unable to attend. This will give fans the feeling of being in the panels and on the floor at the cons that they can’t be at.

The High Roller event was a great start to a weekend of great panels, autograph session and photos at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Tap into Tehama is coordinated by a small group of ambitious visionaries looking to create an event that shares the community spirit of our growing area with locals and visitors alike.

Our event will feature…

  • A musical performance from Ellis and the Alchemists

  • A wine garden featuring a variety of regional vineyards

  • Shuttle services for attendees exiting the event

  • A host of 25+ breweries, sampling their finest beers…

The rapid development of micro-brew over the course of the past two decades has strong roots in the Northern California region. The likes of Sierra Nevada, Eel River, and Lost Coast have drawn national attention to our area… Though as the number of breweries grow, there is often more varieties available than most beer enthusiasts can readily sample and enjoy.

Breweries

Sierra Nevada
Inspired by the nearby Sierra Nevada Mountains, our beers are designed to be as bold, wild and unwavering as those storied granite peaks. With respect to tradition and an unbridled passion for innovation, Sierra Nevada beers are inspired by the philosophy that anything is possible. We are committed to pushing the boundaries of craft beer and we look forward to the day that flavorful beers are the standard throughout the world.

Ninkasi
Ninkasi Brewing Company is dedicated to brewing the highest quality craft beers in support of culture, community, and the uniqueness of each individual and their passions—while evoking as much enjoyment as possible along the way! we believe in and are committed to sharing experiences that create value for our customers, our partners, and our communities in service to our core purpose: to Perpetuate Better Living. Beer is a staple of civilization. Believe in the Goddess.

Mad River
Brew Master Bob Smith’s dream to open a small brewery specializing in craft beers started in the late seventies. In 1977 Bob became a member of the original group that founded the “Humbrewers Guild”. Excursions to buy brewing supplies led Bob to Ken Grossman’s Homebrew Shop in Chico, California. After Ken shared his plans to build a brewery in Chico to be called Sierra Nevada Brewing Co., Bob became determined to found a similar brewery in Humboldt County. Bob’s contact with Ken becomes pivatol in the founding of Mad River. In the spring of 1989 Sierra Nevada, having outgrown its starting brewery and with a new larger plant under construction, offered to sell their original equipment to Smith. At this point the micro brewery business in general had proven its viability and the overall financial climate had changed so financing looked possible. Smith developed a prospectus and by fall found the investors necessary to establish the corporation known as Mad River Brewing Company.

Lagunitas
The Lagunitas Brewing Co. was not so much an act of ordinary ‘foundling’ as it was willed into being by the unspoken desire of supportive beer-lovers in Northern California after which they continued to nurture their creation and urged us forward to fulfill the unifying needs of that same beer-loving diaspora from coast to coast and beyond. It is good to have friends!

21st Amendment
In 2000, Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan founded the 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco’s historic South Park neighborhood. The popular brewpub is now at the heart of the new city center, just south of the financial district and only two blocks from the San Francisco Giants baseball park. In addition to eight rotating taps of multiple award-winning hand-crafted house beers, the pub has been voted “Best Brewpub”, “Best Burger” and “Best Happy Hour” by the San Francisco press.

Speakeasy
Speakeasy has been making great craft beer in San Francisco since first opening in 1997. Our flagships are Big Daddy IPA, Prohibition Ale, and the seasonal releases Scarlett Red Rye and Tallulah Extra Pale Ale. With a love for the sinister and the underground, Speakeasy operates out of a corner of this city once known as Butchertown.

Eel River
As avid home-brewers, co-owners Ted Vivatson and Margaret Frigon had a vision of excellent hand-crafted beer and great food in historic surroundings. The vision came to fruition in 1995 and the beer began to flow at the former site of the Clay Brown Redwood lumber mill in Fortuna, California.

ACE
We have been making ACE ciders for 15 years in the beautiful Sebastopol area of Sonoma County in California; right along side of famous world renowned wine makers.  Thanks to Ace Hard Cider – America’s Best – the cider business in America is growing rapidly, There really is a refreshing alternative to simply beer and it’s Ace’s!

Lost Coast
The Lost Coast Brewery and Café began with a common dream.  In 1986 Barbara Groom, a pharmacist, and Wendy Pound, a family counselor, wondered what it would require to start their own brewpub.  After years of experimental home brewing, planning and studying, which included visiting scores of pubs in England & Wales, Barbara and Wendy were ready to transform their dream into a reality.

Fall River
Fall River Brewing Company was founded during the winter of 2011 when John and Amanda Hutchings wrote out separate “bucket” lists. One of the items on both lists was the desire to own their own business. John, the founder and co-owner of the company, had been a home brewer and had developed a passion for the craft. He had found something that he genuinely enjoyed doing and would spend many nights brewing beer until the early hours of the morning. This passion continued to grow as John learned more about the craft. From this, John and Amanda decided to create Fall River Brewing Company and share the passion for craft beer to those within the Intermountain area. And More…

Walk&Talk Azores Festival the most exotic and genuine public art destination.

Walk&Talk, the International Public Art Festival which is shaking the artistic community and turning the Azores into an excellence destination for creative tourists from around the world, returns through July 27th. Alexandre Farto (Vhils), Mark Jenkins, Okuda and REMED, are four among the 80 creators, from 11 nationalities, who have already participated in the festival and signed some of the 62 interventions that currently give São Miguel island the status of living and democratic museum, mapping the Azores in the new creative regions script.
Liqen Jakala (ES), W&T 2012
Each year Walk&Talk Azores Festival gathers new talents and prominent contemporary art scene names that found in the exoticism and authenticity of this Atlantic archipelago an exceptional context to develop their work, sharing genuine cultural and co‐creation experiences with the local community. Thanks to the growing Walk&Talk creative dynamics, besides the famous “Furnas” and “Sete Cidades” lagoon, today São Miguel island has also a public art museum, where visitors and Azorean can freely enjoy a circuit composed of over 62 contemporary artistic interventions.

PR_Walk&Talk_STD_ING_2013_06_10_page1_image1

Mural painting, installation, sculpture, dance, music, video ‐ from visual arts to performing arts and architecture, Walk&Talk Festival is based on an artistic residency model that encourages creation in permanent dialogue with public space. For this year’s edition the festival promoters promise to reinforce the bold, genuine and collaborative features that define the event, where they want to gather more than 50 artists. Walk&Talk Festival was founded in 2011 by two young Azorean, Diana Sousa (27 years old) and Jesse James (25 years old), is part of the growing Azorean cultural momentum and has turn into one of its most active agents by positioning the region as a must‐visit destination for artists and people who follow the international art scene.

Besides being an emerging event on the international art calendar, Walk&Talk Azores is a peer gathering, relaxed and collaborative art event that allows participant creators to discover the Azores in an unprecedented way ‐ as transdisciplinary and artistic contamination context, which transforms the visit into a real creative tourism experience. People who didn’t have the Azores as a priority destination get the opportunity to discover a unique environment and become spontaneous ambassadors of their creative experiences.

A case study to follow: Walk&Talk Azores Festival has particular relevance because it illustrates the transformation of the tourism image of a territory, from its “disneyfied” projection, based on the reproduction of conventional tourist codes and icons, throughout creative innovation by promoting genuine experiences, as rich and diverse as its visitor’s interests.

Crowdfunding campaign: Until July 4th Walk&Talk Azores is promoting a funds raising campaign to help support this year’s festival edition. Fans and followers may contribute with donations starting at 10 euro’s to help build and improve its production and artistic program, that will gather over 50 Portuguese and foreign artists in São Miguel island. Big fans, with donations over 500 euro’s, can see
their names drawn by an artist in a huge mural or be guests of honor, entitled to a special creative tourism package that includes travel and accommodation, during the festival. For more information and contributions, please visit: www.indiegogo.com/projects/walk‐talk‐public‐art‐festival.

The Hyatt Regency at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport is gearing up for the 2013 Texas Frightmare Weekend.  Conceived by Loyd and Sue Cryer in 2005 as a three-day horror convention, the event takes place annually in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. True to its motto, “The Southwest’s Premier Horror Convention”, their goal is to provide fans with an unrivaled experience by celebrating all aspects of genre films. Texas Frightmare Weekend hosts celebrity appearances, autograph signings, screenings, exclusive parties and horror memorabilia vendors from all over the country. The event is also extremely proud to have featured the rising talents of many Texas “Frightmakers” in screenings, panel discussions and Q & A’s.

After humble beginnings at the tiny Grapevine Convention Center in Grapevine, TX, TFW (as it has begun to be called by attendees) is arguably the largest horror convention in the nation. The event boasts over 10,000 attendees annually and has hosted genre legends such as George A. Romero, Clive Barker, Malcom McDowell, Robert Englund, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Cary Elwes and hundreds more.

In 2012 the event moved to the Hyatt Regency inside the DFW to make room for its growing fan base. The new venue provides 93,000 square feet of event space (compared to the Grapevine Convention Center at 23,500 square feet) and 800 rooms.

This year will see celebrities including “The Walking Dead” stars John Bernthal, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Lew Temple, Nick Gomez, Vincent Ward and Norman Reedus.  Reedus will also team up with Sean Patrick Flanery, his Co-star from “The Boondock Saints”.  Some of the other featured celebs for the weekend will include Gary and Jake Busey, Nick Castle (Halloween), Denise Crosby (Pet Cemetary), Michael Faust (Face Off), James Hampton (Teen Wolf), Heather Langenkamp (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Virginia Madsen (Dune), Patricia Quinn (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Chris Sarandon (Fright Night) and more.

There will also be screenings and panels throughout the weekend and opportunities for fans to get a photo or autograph with their favorite stars.

Matt Bomer, star of USA Network’s hit series White Collar, has joined the panel for the World Premiere of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Superman: Unbound this Friday, March 29 at 6:00 p.m. as part of the WonderCon marquee evening event in the Anaheim Convention Center.

As the voice of Superman, Bomer will headline the post-screening panel discussion alongside Castle star Molly Quinn (the voice of Supergirl), producer/director James Tucker (Justice League), screenwriter Bob Goodman (Warehouse 13, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns) and eight-time Emmy Award-winning dialogue director Andrea Romano (Batman: The Dark Knight Returns). Moderator Gary Miereanu will guide the proceedings, offering glimpses into future DC Universe Animated Original Movies, and exclusive prizes for some lucky fans in attendance.

In Superman: Unbound, a destructive force is devastating planets across the galaxy – with Earth next in its sights – and even Superman may not be capable of halting the destruction alone. Based on the Geoff Johns/Gary Frank 2008 DC Comics release “Superman: Brainiac,” the film’s stellar voicecast also includes John Noble (Fringe, The Lord of the Rings films) as Brainiac, and Stana Katic (Castle) as Lois Lane. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, Superman: Unbound will be released on Blu-ray, DVD, OnDemand and For Download on May 7, 2013.

Prior to the premiere, the Superman: Unbound panelists Quinn, Tucker, Goodman and Romano will sign WonderCon-exclusive mini-posters from 3:00-4:00 p.m. at the DC Entertainment booth.
