Looking forward to seeing Rogue One on a scale of one to ten. 7.5

Want to see it again? Yes

Favorite line in Rogue One? I am one with the force and the force is with me.

Favorite character in Rogue One? K- 2 SO He is a cross between Marvin in Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy  and Star Wars C-3PO. He is every human like. His attitude and they way he throws out lines is hilarious!

Run time? 133 minutes

Too Long/too short? A bit too long.

Why? The past few years movies have been running longer. The directors stretch movies to a minimum of two hours. The stretching isn’t always done with good content. Rogue One has many and I do mean many, sweeping shots of the landscape. The second time stretch came in via battles, long confusing air battles. The miniatures ranged from awesome to awful in the very, very long air battle.

Best part?  The comfortable way the new story line meshed with the familiar. Rogue One is in some ways predictable. Having been part of the fandom since the first Star Wars movie hit the theater, entitles me to certain number of predictable references. Rogue One is a movie Star Wars fan will enjoy because it is predictable, in a good way.

Worst part? * Slight Spoiler high light with mouse to read*They are out crawling around on some sort of ledge. They completely lost any pretense of continuity.

Random thoughts? Storm troopers still can’t shoot straight. The armor impedes their movement and doesn’t protect them very well.

Black folks are scarce in space. I suppose they could be storm troopers.

Rebel in the back reminded me of Rick Moranis in Space Balls.
Think D Day and Iow Jima battles on the beach with those big dog things.
The air fight with those thinks that look like empty thread spools
Sweeping landscapes and protracted battles.
I was surprised how many main or central characters died.
Towards the end the models looked like models photographed to look big. Disappointing.
Are they in space without oxygen mask?
The end left some lose threads and linked us back to the original Star Wars Trilogy with cgi Princess Leia

Don’t get lost finding your Indie Game Company slot.

Tips For Starting An Indie Video Game Studio Part: 1

Who will be playing and who will be paying?

Your Indie Game Studio needs a target group!

It won’t be easy to define your buyer base, but it is essential.  Defining your Indie Game customer base sets the roadmap for your business.

This is a business! It is a fun business, but it is a business.!

Good video games + bad business practices = broke puppy looking for a job.

Once you have found your characters and where they are going in the game you are only part of the way home.

You Indie Game Studio needs a clear idea about whom your video game is for. Write it down and make sure everyone working on the game knows exactly who you are targeting.

It is very, very, very important to know: who will be buying your video game.

If you aren’t rich enough to advertise your game on national TV you can market your game effectively on social media platforms.

Social media allows you to home in on your target group.

An example of stupid people not knowing where their product is going are Internet Marketers that believe they can do nothing and earn thousands of dollars.

The marketer buys  a “Secret” from an Internet marketing guru.
1. Buy his/her book.
2. Set up social media accounts as a young woman.
3. Steal or buy a photo of a young woman showing cleavage.
4. Sit back and wait for people to follow you.
5. Make a few sexy posts.
6. When people start following your posts closely put in an ad for your product.
7. Wait for the orders to come rolling in!

1. The first thing the marketer needs to do is find a product to sell. You already have a product so you are good to go.
2. The guru tells the marketer he needs to get a Facebook and Twitter account.
3. For this example, let’s say our marketer decides to sell ladies shoes for older women . Obviously, he will want to attract older women to buy the shoes.

The marketer follows the recommendations of the guru.
4. He finds a photo of a scantily clad young woman for his avatar.
5. He sets up his profile as this young woman.
6. He gets lots of friends requests.
7. He is happy with his accounts.
8. It is time to start selling shoes.

This is exactly how the gurus suggest internet marketers start out.

The marketer makes a wonderful post to sell his awesome shoes for older women and waits for the money to roll in.

He is very disappointed, not one shoe order came in and he sees his beach vacation wash out to sea. He followed the steps, but his  online business failed.

His problem? His social media accounts were attracting the wrong people for his products. A sexy female avatar will usually attract young men or teenager boys not the older women that would like the shoes he is trying to sell.

Social media is a  great way to get the name of your game and Indie Game Studio out the public if you need to attract the right followers.

You need a two-part plan for selling your game.

Part 1: Advertising – to the buyers
a.  Money.
b.  Social media with the right people following you.

Part 2: Advertising – to the players.

That is simple and very difficult at the same time.

Google just announced three new photography applications: Storyboard (Android only), Selfissimo! (iOS and Android), and Scrubbies (iOS only). The releases are part of a new “appsperimentsprogram that Google just launched.

The new program, inspired by the company’s Motion Stills app, released last year with the goal of taking technology in development from Google and turning it into actual apps. Like Motion Stills, the trio of new apps are fully functional software in their own right, but “built on experimental technology” that Google will continue to build out over time.

About two months ago, Ajit Pai, a 42-year-old DJ in Goa, India, noticed a puzzling comment on his Instagram. It was abusive, but without any clear reason. The next day, more strange comments began to appear on his account. Some included the hashtag #netneutrality. Finally, it clicked. They were looking for Federal Communications Commission chairman Ajit Pai.

Pai first learned that he shared a name with the chairman six months ago, but it had never been a problem until that comment. Last week, as the FCC vote to remove established net neutrality rules became a national controversy, Pai suddenly found himself at the center of the public’s rage about losing access to an unregulated internet.

“I’ve been getting death [threats] and abusive…

What is Net Neutrality?

Think of the Internet as your water coming into your home. With Net Neutrality or in this case Water Neutrality treats all water usage the same way. If law makers remove the Water Neutrality laws your water service will be a pain. They could use different pay rates and slow down certain water uses. Suppose the water company decides you are flushing your toilet too much, they could slow water pressure to the point that you couldn’t flush the toilet until they let you. Your dishwasher could be cut off completely. It would be a pain!

Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers must treat all data on the Internet the same, and not discriminate or charge differently by user, content, website, platform, application, type of attached equipment, or method of communication.[1] For instance, under these principles, internet service providers are unable to intentionally block, slow down or charge money for specific websites and online content. What You Can Do

The FCC’s vote on net neutrality is scheduled for this Thursday, December 14th. There is still time to tell them why they should reconsider. Go here to share your story of how the repeal of net neutrality rules would personally affect you. And go to battleforthenet.com to tell your member of Congress why he or she should call on Chairman Pai to reconsider his plan. Reddit

The past several weeks have seen multiple surges of activism on Reddit as our users rally to save net neutrality from the FCC’s plans to gut it. In a political climate where talk of bots and astroturfing has sometimes caused skepticism when it comes to online activism, we wanted to look into the pro-net neutrality activity on the site to make sure that Reddit wasn’t being gamed by outside actors looking to manipulate our platform.

The results of this analysis were so overwhelming that we wanted to share them with the public on this day of action in support of net neutrality. Not only did we find the activity to be an authentic, truly grassroots phenomenon, but it represented some of the most fervent organic activity we have ever seen on the front page in all of Reddit’s twelve year history. The bottom line is that real people—millions of them—care about preserving the free and open internet, and they are taking to Reddit to express themselves. Whether through telling us their personal stories or by raising an upvote for the members of Congress who refused to sell out their interests, redditors are making themselves heard on this issue. It is up to all of those in Washington who represent us to listen.

FCC’s net neutrality record is plagued by bots, bogus comments, and a reporter’s home address

As a reporter, I am supposed to be unbiased and objective. No public advocacy. No free lunches from corporations. No political signs in my front yard.
So imagine my surprise when I casually inserted my name into a search engine of the 23.5 million commenters who supposedly wrote this year to the Federal Communications Commission as it drafted new rules eliminating Obama-era net neutrality protections against throttling internet traffic and blocking web sites. Ajit Pai offers no data for latest claim that net neutrality hurt small ISPs

With days to go before his repeal of net neutrality rules, FCC Chairman Ajit Pai issued a press release about five small ISPs that he says were harmed by the rules. Pai “held a series of telephone calls with small Internet service providers across the country—from Oklahoma to Ohio, from Montana to Minnesota,” his press release said.
On these calls, “one constant theme I heard was how Title II had slowed investment,” Pai said. Read More

Republican senator calls on Congress to pass law protecting net neutrality

With the net neutrality debate raging at the FCC, it’s easy to forgot that net neutrality remains an issue inside of Congress, too — albeit a much, much quieter one. But at least one senator is still hoping to see some movement: on the Senate floor today, Sen. John Thune (R-SD) asked net neutrality supporters on “both sides of the aisle” to come work with him on a legislative solution.
“Congressional action is the only way to solve the endless back and forth on net neutrality rules that we’ve seen over the past several years,” Thune said. “If my colleagues on the other side of the aisle and those who claim to support net neutrality rules want to enshrine protections for consumers with the backing of the law, I call on you today to join me in discussing legislation that would do just that.” Read More

These include Waze and Google Maps; YouTube; the eponymous Google app; Google Home and Assistant; Google Drive, Docs, Slides, and Sheets; Google Photos; and Google Translate. Factor 5 was a company whose time came way too quickly. It was a team  devoted to 3D flying/action games, stuff like Rogue Squadron on the Nintendo 64, as well as one of the best games in the GameCube era, Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II.

The company was scuttled following its work on Lair for the PlayStation 3, but video has recently surfaced of a project that the team was working on before said scuttling, one that could have brought back one of Nintendo’s most innovative franchises for the Nintendo Wii – well, spiritually, anyway.

Finance is a very important and crucial part of film making. While many people pull you here and there explaining about this vast topic, where as they are all beating behind the bushes, here are some real facts about film making finances.

Every film maker at some point in his career is supposed to make a choice between a hobby and a profession – that is wherever you choose film making as a full time career or just a mere hobby. The key to the answer lies in their ability to finance or fund their own projects.

Film making, as we all know guarantees a lot of money in indeed, most of the film makers focus on their current project, not the future ones. In order to become a film maker, it is immensely important to understand the professionalism involved in film making, and the mechanisms of film investment.

In this regard many people claim to be Mr. Know-It-All, but as a matter of fact, this is not any toddlers' job. Such people often try to take advantage of your ignorance in the field.

We suggest you to contact a legitimate company who are equipped with the right knowledge and have some experience in the field of film making. But, like all other services and products, there are so many consultancy firms out there. On what basis do you choose or reject one? Here are some basic facts that you must understand:

1. The fake or some average companies would berely try to grab your money away with high dreams and no results.

2. The legitimate and quality organizations would never promise you any investors. They would rather assist you with a list of the potential investors and help you win over them.

3. Whether your project gets an investor or not is matter that is decided by several factors like the subject of your project, the market scenario, your individual potential and its portal, and for those who believe, luck.

4. The legal counsel consultants understand that there is no fun stealing away those few dollars paid for consultancy that any producer could afford conveniently.

5. The genuine financial consultants at times do not even charge the percentage of the funds you have earmarked for the project. They charge you their fees but extremely aim towards the success of your project and its effective distribution.

6. They must help you evaluate the accumulated interest levied on the money you have borrowed during production.

7. They would also guide you through a well planned financial end of your project.

The toughest part of this business comes in to the scene when you have to convince a financial consultant of a legitimate producer to get involved in your project. You must find an investor who trusts you and your project well enough in order to invest in such high-risk, that is film making. For this you must step in to the shoes of an investor and evaluate as to what would be his / her investing criteria.

There are some essential basics of film investing. These are:

1. Typically, a film investor shares around 50% of the total cost of the film. Film producer bares the remaining 50%.

2. 30-40% is quite enough to make the film. This would totally depend on your convincing power to bring forth the end users to become a part of your plan.

3. The investor would always want that the budget of the film project is as low as possible.

4. Foreign sales must cover at least 50%.

5. An investment worth $ 5 million should be sufficient to allow the investor to buy several films.

As getting a film funded through investors is not an easy nut to crack, the independent film makers must consider the film making grants. Those who are passionate about this art and are in love with this profession, have a real scope of getting these grants. Just log on to internet and key in 'film making grants' and you'll get to know about several funders who are all willing to help such budding talents. All you need is to believe in your project. But make sure to gain enough knowledge about each grant as there are several types of grants that define different criteria for each.

The Three Stages of Film Making

[ad_1]

There are three stages of the production process:

1. Pre-Production (the planning stage) in which you might expect to spend approximately 1/3 of your total time.

2. Production (the shooting stage) in which you might expect to spend approximately 1/6 of your total time.

3. Post-Production (the editing stage) in which you might expect to spend approximately 1/2 of your total time.

These time estimates are very loose and will vary depending on your production.

Good planning ensures that the expensive production stage runs smoothly and that all the footage that is required gets shot.

Post-Production is a highly creative stage and you must have time to edit, screen and re-edit where necessary.

Pre-Production includes:

Creating the planning paperwork, choosing locations, hiring cast and crew, booking equipment and post facilities, dealing with legal paperwork, creating a budget, accounting for ancillary rentals and services, etc.

Production Includes:

Shooting the required footage, reshooting where necessary and recording location sound.

Post-Production includes:

Screening and logging your footage, recording or accessing music, recording voice and sound effects, creating animations, illustrations & text graphics, editing the various visuals and soundtracks, adding transitions and effects, mixing, color correcting, creating time coded copies for preview, creating masters and sub-masters.

There are three main production documents:

– The proposal

– The script

– The shot list, scene list or storyboard.

The Proposal contains: The working title, medium, scenario (incl. story outline and treatment), technical considerations and the budget. Treatments can be commercial, dramatic, documentary or educational. It is used to educate potential investors or production companies on what your project is about before reading the script.

The Script contains: A detailed story development, written for screen action, with dialogue and visual information. Various formats exist, but usually the script does not contain camera angles, lighting information and other technical information. It’s just a description of the story.

The Shot List / Storyboard contains: An area for noting shot/scene number, visual content, technical descriptions and approximate time for the shot. In a storyboard a diagram augments the written shot description. This is where the technical shooting information is.

Shot Distances listed in the shot list relate to the perceived distance between camera (audience) and subject. While there are often many definitions for shot distances there a really only five basic ones:

1. Extreme Long Shot (ELS) where there is a significant area of space around the subject. The subject appears to be distant.

2. Long Shot (LS) where the subject comfortably fills the frame from top to bottom with adequate head room and room underneath the subject).

3. Medium Shot (or Mid) Shot (MS) where approximately 2/3 to 1/2 of the subject is seen in the frame. Make sure to never allow the bottom of the frame to cut a person off at a natural joint.

4. Close Up (CU) where approximately 1/3 to 1/4 of the subject is framed. This might be your typical “head and shoulders” shot.

5. Extreme Close Up (ECU) which is usually a head shot of a person. As long as it shows the eyes, nose and mouth in the frame it can still be considered a shot of a person (as opposed to a medium shot of an eye, for instance).

Sequencing

Basic sequencing means that we design a series of shots for one scene or sequence in our movie. They must be designed so that the audience is shown the action in a way that is easily understood, visually stimulating and that no subject is shown that is not intended to be part of the scene.

For this reason several shots will be designed and each should be slated for ease of editing.

While each sequence of shots is designed based on the action to be shown to the audience (action sequences, monologues, multi-camera stunts, etc.) a dialogue scene between actors will often be shot using the Master Scene technique.

Shooting a dialog sequence in the Master Scene technique includes several camera angles, shooting overlapping or repeating action so that the editor has several choices.

If, for example, we are shooting two people facing each other while holding a conversation we would shoot the entire sequence in a master two-shot. Then we might shoot a close up of just one of the people for the entire sequence. Lastly we might shoot the other person in close up for the entire sequence. Thus, we have a two-shot to introduce the scene, close-ups of each person when they speak and also close ups of each person just listening as the off-camera person is speaking (these are called reaction shots). The two shot can be used any time bouncing back and forth between the close ups might become tiring to the viewer.

This sequencing should be included in your shot list.

Well, Filmmaking described in layman’s terms (without using any high level Gre words) as the process of making a film, from an first story idea through script writing, shooting, editing and finally distributing. Filmmaking is a platform for all those who can prove their abundance of creative talents to the world or to his / her country. It is also a profession. Many have a wrong notice that it is a hobby or for people who are lazy to do a job.

It is a highly respected field in other countries such as the US But in countries like India – particularly the South region, this field is not respected as outside. People in the South have a notice that Filmmaking is a lazy route to success. Maybe, it gives money & fame in a shorter period when compared to other fields, but unlike other fields, if you do not keep up your standard after success, your fame will fade away in the course of time. But the fame you get in other fields will not fade away just in a course of time. It would be a long-lasting one. And my friends, it’s not a lazy route to success.

Next, check out whether it is just a forum or whether the forum is part of a larger site that includes astral projection articles, resources, blogs, online chat, and other features. You might want to be part of something that is larger than just a forum.

Check out the number of posts. If the categories are few, and most of them are empty, you had better steer clear of the site because it is either new or just not popular. Check out how many people are active at the forum before plunging into it. You need a large community of astral travelers or students of astral projection to communicate with. You don’t want to be part of a half-dead site with no members or a new site that is still struggling to gain traffic.

A great idea is to read a few reviews of the site you are interested in. For instance, Spiritual Forums seems to be a great site. It includes online chat, articles, links, and an online shop. The site also appears to have thousands of posts and many categories, which means that lots of people do visit the site to interact and share information. This means that you will benefit a lot by joining the site. You will meet some exciting people to interact with. More

NASA engineers closed a summer of successful hot fire testing Aug. 30 for flight controllers on RS-25 engines that will help power the new Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, being built to carry astronauts to deep-space destinations, including Mars. The space agency capped off summer testing with a 500-second hot fire of a fifth RS-25 engine flight controller unit on the A-1 Test Stand at Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The controller serves as the “brain” of the engine, communicating with SLS flight computers to ensure engines are performing at needed levels. The test marked another step toward the nation’s return to human deep-space exploration missions

Dog ownership is associated with a reduced risk for cardiovascular disease and death, finds a new Swedish study published Friday in the journal Scientific Reports.
For people living alone, owning a dog can decrease their risk of death by 33% and their risk of cardiovascular related death by 36%, when compared to single individuals without a pet, according to the study. Chances of a heart attack were also found to be 11% lower.

Louis C.K. photo courtesy NBC and Saturday Night Live

Comedian Tiffany Haddish made her S.N.L. debut in the shadow of yet another week filled with sexual assault and misconduct allegations levied against powerful men. It was especially crucial that S.N.L. nail the latest batch of headlines featuring the likes of Republican candidate Roy Moore, actor Ed Westwick, and George Takei given the fourth big name to make the rounds this week: Louis C.K.

The comedian, who has admitted there is truth to the sexual misconduct claims against him, not only hosted Saturday Night Live four times, but also worked as a writer with Robert Smigel on the erstwhile “TV Funhouse” shorts. How would the show—which has been a little slow this season to address the late-breaking misdeeds of moguls, politicians, and actors—treat one of its own? The answer is very gingerly.

Larry David's Stand-Up Monologue on Saturday Night Live

Larry David’s Stand-Up Monologue on Saturday Night Live

Having not seen the Saturday Night Live monologue on Saturday night my initial response to this title was to expect boring, tired “political correctness.”

It isn’t.

The monologue it isn’t very funny and I am old enough to remember when even comedy writers had common sense. Bottom line is that his cronies, the good old boys, would have yucked it up. These Saturday Night Live jokes should have stayed in the locker room.  Rosalita Moog

“Curb Your Enthusiasm” star Larry David is in hot water with “Saturday Night Live” viewers following a joke about the Holocaust that’s being hailed as insensitive.

The complete story.
